EGR valve socket pins

Hi
Car:318D E90.
While changing EGR Valve I think the one of the pins on the socket next to it got damaged. While car drives and sounds perfect the engine sign comes on moment ignition is on.To me it sounds like cable or sensor problem eventhough scan keeps coming up with EGR valve fault.
It looks like a clip on cover with attached socket to me.I have attached the picture.Cable which goes into that socket looks fine.

Anybody attempted changing just that part of the EGR valve?
Is that a DIY job?
