Fault Code: 43E2 Throttle Valve Actuator – 335D Help Please!

Hi All

I’ve got an E92 335D & have noticed a sudden of power. The fault code report is 43E2 Throttle Valve Actuator.

I’ve got a couple of questions if anyone can help with:

1) Has anyone had the same error code and if so how did you go about dealing with it
2) Which part is the fault code referring to? Is it the throttle body that bolts onto the EGR as per item (3) in the webpage contained on this link - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...69&hg=11&fg=40
3) Is this fault code likely to have symptoms of a loss power?

Thanks in advance to those that participate in responding to thread discussion

When I first bought my cpo 335d a few months ago, I brought it back to the dealership a couple weeks later complaining that the car didn't seem very responsive on takeoff. I never had sudden loss of power. I can't remember the exact wording, but they replaced either whole throttle body, or just the actuator. After the fix, the car seemed more sprightly off the line. My car had 23k miles at the time.

Yours might have been the turbo actuators/converters.

What year D is it?

I'd like to look it up on my AllData but there could be a difference due to my system being a US car system and not a Euro spec system.

I would be willing to put my money on YES the #3 item is the throttle valve being referenced in the code you pulled.

Here's what I pulled from AllData for a 2011 335d:

have not had the code, but I would guess its referring to the actual butterfly valve (throttle valve, anti-shudder valve, etc) and not the EGR. Would definitely have the potential for power loss if it is failed in any position other than wide open.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Brad335d - The D is a 2006 (56 plate) model.

Hooper – What do you mean by ‘actual butterfly valve (throttle valve, anti-shudder valve, etc)’ – are you to direct to a partnumber or indicate where this is? – Are you referring the part *3 in my intiail thread?

GreekboyD – Where are the turbo acutators/convertors located? Bottom of both turbos? Have you got a part number or a link to one that will help me in identifying where this is on the vehicle?

I just wrote it that way because its really not a throttle valve but it is referred to sometimes as a throttle valve. Its really a butterfly valve that apparently serves a couple different purposes
