btw... are the titles clear on the vehicle they sell?
Since I'm assuming most of the vehicles will be drug bust type vehicles... right?

Police Auctions

The Abandoned Vehicle Section (AVS) hosts a monthly auction to sell abandoned/seized vehicles.

The auctions are held on the fourth Saturday of each month. The gates open at 7:30 am and the Auction starts at 9:00 am. You must be admitted/registered before 9:00 a.m. to participate.

You must have a valid ID to enter. All vehicles purchased must be paid for on the day of the auction. We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard as payment. Persons must be 18 and over to participate in the auction. Sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds accompanied by parent/guardian and possessing valid license/learner's permit may enter.

The AVS does not publish or provide any lists of proposed vehicles for auction. All participants may view the selection of vehicles offered on the day of the auction, starting at 7:30 a.m.

Purchased vehicles must be removed on auction day or the following day (Sunday) or storage charges will incur.

Vehicles are sold as is. No refunds. Caveat emptor (buyer beware).

You cannot get in the gate after 9. Period. I tried today at 9:30 since I was already at MVA. He said absolutely could not even drive in to look at anything.

I actually got in this morning...

I showed up at 8 and registered (that only took 5 min).
There wasn't a big crowd, and it seems as though a lot of the folks who show up are regulars.

They had 3 lots there... the first, drug seizures getting processed (those were by far the nicest cars) 3 or 4 2002 - 2004 S500s, a late model LS460 and a few other decent cars... There was even an Evo 9. The cars in that lot though were not to be looked at or sold because some may or may not go back, but judging by what's in the other 2 lots, it seems as though a lot go back, or at least get picked up by the officers and their connections.

The second lot was where all the action took place. The cars in that lot are the ones they were selling, but nothing in there caught my attention. Cars sold for as little as $50 (for an RV and an 02 mustang w/ significant damage) and as high as 4100 for a late model corolla.. which was in nice shape, needed a new rear bumper and a detail, but otherwise it was nice.

The third lot held the cars slated to be sold in the coming month or 2. I saw a few nice ones in there.. an escalade, a few nice SUVs, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I wasn't too thrilled with the findings today and prob won't go back to buy a car there.

The drawbacks:
- You don't know the mileage on the car you bid on
- You have to tow the car out of the lot
- You have to get it inspected by MD State police
- And worst of all, you get a salvage title

Not to mention that if you are looking for something specific, it would be damn near impossible to find.
Those drug seizures did look tempting, but it would have to be a phenomenal deal IMO for me to consider one... maybe if i got the LS460 for 5k or less

I also have been searching wth no luck for an upcoming auction list link. Hope we can find something soon.
