BMW has offered me $3k towards an extended warranty...or $3k towards new vehicle (none really appeal to me...and why give them more money?)
The insulting part is I don't even have my car back (been in shop since sept 12th) and the offer expires on the 31st. I'm told the dealership determines the value of my car...initial # was a total joke. Carmax offered more to buy it sight unseen. |

My 2011 335d is at the dealer. The head was sent out for cleaning. I ordered it new from germany and it is my first BMW. At this point it is love/hate. I"m 300 miles from being out of warranty and trying to work with the SA to do all of the changes that i have read about here. All i get back is 'nobody should own a D without it being on warranty'.
All my repairs have been by the dealer so it should all be easily tracked. Any update on mass complaint?? |

I bet if we do this and we can document 100 cases or more, bmw will feel a lot pressure to at a minimum extend all of our drivetrain and exhaust warranty to 6 years and 100k miles.
It happened with the e46 m3's with its bad rod bearing issues, it can happen here. |

I've been in the shop eight weeks now.
I've had a bunch of loaners and now I'm racking up the miles on a 2014 320i - talk about a lack of power. I'd really be interested in knowing how many 335ds are out of service. Mine went out right as the warranty expired. |

If I had a car that was out of warranty or going to be out warranty soon, I would be highly motivated to start such a website
Only thing big companies fear is bad publicity cause this can cut into future sales.. That is the only leverage we collectively have here. As time goes in, this carbon situation is getting more and more clear and serious. Just a matter of time before BMW does something about it but it will take longer if we remain docile. My incentive is abit lower since both my diesels are cpo. |

Also, so how many diesels are affected???... Nobody knows for sure but we have asked this question on other threads before
Some guessed as high as 35% but that just seems too high to me.. But 15% wouldn't surprise me at all. |

My 09 335d has been at the dealer for 3+ months now. I have experienced many of the same problems as others listed on the forum. Vehicle is out of warranty and extended warranty would not cover the repair work for carbon build up. Been on a loaner the full winter season. Parts were back ordered for months and BMW finally came up with a plan B for the repair. That was completed but other problems have been found and the engine had to be torn down again and pictures sent to their engineers for further assistance. I could explain further but I am sure you all get the gist. BMW is not taking care of the customer when they know they have a serious problem.

That is correct. I bought the car new and thought the extended warranty the bmw dealer sold me would cover my bases. I was quoted $5k for the carbon repair for which bmw did agree to split the cost. The dealer has gone to bat for me but it has taken too long for BMW to get things resolved.

I got the foreman involved. I paid my $50 deductible for a new engine and dde. Regional BMW tech came out for approval of work after puma filed. The dealership experience was great as far as keeping their end of the extended warranty work. In total in 2013, my car was in the shop about 60 days. Call BMWNA and tell them your woes.

No way I would accept that...if you get lawyer I bet they will listen a lot more....I am not a litigious person but you are in the right here. BMW should be covering all CBU repairs until 100K for even the people without extended warranty imho...right thing to do. |

The dealer was able to get BMW to pay for 100% of the repair cost but only because the parts were back ordered for so long. Otherwise they would only cover half. I did try BMW NA direct and they listened to the my plea but did not help me out. That was back in November.
Has anyone seen this website for a proposed class action lawsuit? http://sfmslaw.com/class-action-laws...es.php?id=1500 |
