Tough spot to be in. I can relate to both sides of the issue. I hope it all works out.

I did buy the OE tune through Craven

The OE Tune was purchased through Craven, he is a re-seller of OE Tuning. I have my ECU back from AA now, and will let everyone know the results tonight.

Who wins the 330i intake manifold swap tune challenge. AA or OE Tuning!
Got to wait and see!

If I could only choose 1 tune, it would be Active

I need some additional road time with the Active Autowerks tune, but have noticed some differences between the two tunes. However my car has some issues at 2000 RPM under WOT with both Tunes. By 3000 RPM the Active Autowerks Tune is better as the OE Tune is still jerky until 3500 RPM.
More Notes...

1. The Active Autowerks tune allows the car to idle smoother... I believe the OE Tuning may have the car running a bit lean. (a guess)
2. The power curve on the Active Autowerks tune is smoother. OE Tuning seams more aggressive and jerky when the power comes on.
3. The OE Tune may have marginally more top end Horse Power, but It really lacks any HP until 3500 RPM. I bought a BMW to be smooth and have power delivered consistantly.

So If I had to pick one: It would be the Active Autowerks Tune... a much smoother experience.

Thank you for this. Omar and Viral are ace. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, AA tune is the best tune for the money currently out there

Now if you can get them to set up a few more shops here and there that would really be something!

I am glad to hear Our Tune has put you back in control of your car.

Active Autowerkwe Performance Tune eliminates rough idle, provides smooth aggressive pulls throughout the entire RPM Band. Custom Tuning for Higher Octane if available within your area.

Congrats

Hi Viral. Noticed the plots start at 2500 rpm. Does the AA tune for the 328i "smooth" the throttle response any from stop from 500-2500 rpm? That's where I have the most beef with the stock tuning.

Congrats

Viral - my car's finally coming out of the shop for bodywork. I'll be hitting you up on a tune soon, z4 3.0si n52. What is the default octane the program is optimized around, assuming 91? If so would I be able to get something for 93 octane?

Our Performance Software will smooth out the factory throttle mapping. Once throttle is engaged from 500-2500 RPMs our tune help eliminate the "jerky/ sluggish" feeling that is associated with the factory tune file. This allows the vehicle to react in much more responsive manner while maintaining it's smoothness that you can expect from a BMW.

I believe E90Pilot will be posting up his dyno with the Performance Software once he gets a chance. I will make sure I send you a PM once the thread has been posted.

Awesome glad to hear your going to be getting back your car soon. Yes, we can tune for 93 Octane if you have it available within your area.

Two in Socal, and one in Santa Clara, but Santa Clara is really at the southern tip of Norcal. I even talked to two local reputable BMW shops in Norcal they both said the equipment needed to do in house tuning is very expensive which was why they could not do such tuning in house.

How difficult is it to come up with a hand-held flash tune? Every other auto brand seems to have flash tunes.

This is to both vendors, I understand why socal has the advantage in tuning locations, but still hoping I don't have to drive very far for a tune. I know shipping out the ECU is no big deal for you guys, but I am not like you guys

I wish I live near them. AA has so many dealers in Socal but only one in Norcal.

Our Performance Software is not a generic load file that just bumps throttle response settings and call it a day. We believe in selling a Performance tune that will give you "Performance" we work with dealers both domestically and foreign to allow our tune to be available to the end user who is looking for increased performance from their BMW.

We have many customer's on the forums here who have shipped us their ECU's for this tune and have no issues at all. So please me make this happen for you.

BMW of Bloomfield NJ will do the AA ECU flash, although they won't support it No other tune can make that claim. That speaks for itself.

Do either of these companies have a tune to take advantage of 91 octane and the 3-stage manifold for the Canadian N52 323i? I noticed AA has some authorized dealers in Canada which is a big plus.
