Is it possible to turbo an N52?
I know I have a lot of research ahead off me on this next project, turbo my e90 328 sedan, but maybe one of you can save me a big mistake.
Should i buy this kit? It is only missing manifold I'm told. My ride is 2007 328 with 68000km. I have all diy intake mods including 3im and bigger labs 330 stock tune. |

There have already been a few custom N52 turbo cars built and the power output looks really nice. The engine handled much more power than people expected. Look up the Digidon treads and BPC's Project Alyce. I don't think anyone has built a tried and tested bolt-on kit for the N52. You would be prototyping the hardware and software. No publicly available tunes for the turbo kit. If you want a boosted N52, look at the ESS kit with the BPC tune. Move over to the Naturally Aspirated sections. The folks over there are more friendly towards the N52. |

Yes, i did look those up. BPC ended up mashing the 4th gear in the tranny.
After talking to my brother, the job isn't worth the costs in our minds. a turbo kid is only the started and even making the manifold for it puts it out of my budge. Thanks for the reply. |

Well my brother in law has it ATM. He's a registered car dealer.
He buys/sells BMWs so it's possible he still has it. He better still have it since it's got my Lux bulbs in there that I want back. Officially I "traded it in" |

If you got the money then yes I'm sure it can be done. I know a few people went with the super charger option back in the day. A higher mileage 335 can be had for cheap these days and that option will probably cost less than modding a N52 to that degree.

I will say this, turboing an N52 is no easy task, we've tried just about every configuration and our current setup is about as easy as it gets but still takes a lot of modifying the chassis and fabrication to make it all fit. Here are the two links to the build: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1378565 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1484962 |

As Delta0311 mentioned, the cost of higher mileage 335i would be cheaper than putting turbo kit on the 328i's n52. I am currently negotiating with the dealer on an e93 335i with around 80k for 7.5 grand, and I actually had cross-shopped 328i and 335i before. I actually made a spreadsheet with my girlfriend regarding either buy a 328i and modding it or go straight with a slightly modded 335i in terms of the total cost + cost of ownership in next couple years, and she and I chose to save our time and money by going with 335i.
