Is my car still remapped? (325d and 330d owners in midlands)
Last year I had my N57 powered 325d remapped to over 300bhp however I think my remap may have been wiped off by BMW when it went into them. At the time of getting the car back, I brushed it off as me getting used to the power but the more I think about it the more it seems likely they did. The company that remapped it don't mind redoing it if it has been wiped, but I would like to test it out somehow before i take it to them because it would mean arranging a day off work to sort it. Also if I get there and they find no problem they will charge me for the investigation.
I'm wondering if anyone has a standard 330d or a N57 325d in the midlands area and would be willing to help me find out if my car is actually still remapped or not? Failing that I would need to get it on a dyno locally to see the numbers. Or does anyone know any numbers I could be aiming for when it comes to in gear acceleration such as 30-70 or 50-70. I timed a run to 60 at arpund 6.5s but wasn't entirely accurate. |

What's the price for a dyno run?
What's the price the remapper will charge for the investigation if remapping not needed? Go with whoever is cheaper.

go for a set gear in M and set speeds and post it up, i got a remapped 325d and can compare.
turn off the traction, does it spin up the rear wheel easily in second away from junctions ect? (depends a bit on tyres) |

Mine is remapped, though I have no idea who it was done by or how much it's putting down but here's a 0-60 and 60-80. The 0-60 is such poor quality but it does seem to be around the same time as you've stated, it was in DS mode with traction control on.

I don't know if it's just me but I was having a look at some 0-60 pulls with descriptions stating a 300hp remap and all the cars seemed to hit 60mph in 6ish seconds?

All this speculation, I gave a reasonable answer in post #2 - or so I thought.

Put an accelerometer in the car and put it on a drag strip and do a number of timed runs then look at the mean value and you might be getting there. Getting back to the OP's original post, if you were used to the power of your remap, the minute your ECU is set back to standard map it would be immediately apparent. I have set mine back to standard map with the bluefin unit before and it's a totally different driving experience. |

I wouldn't mind taking it on a dyno, just so I could see if the car is still running the same as it was when I initially had it mapped but I don't know of anywhere local and open on weekends that offer this.
I did some timed runs with a stopwatch, these are rough figures: I was in manual mode with DSC off 20-50 in 2nd gear 4.2s 30-50 in 3rd gear 4.2s 30-70 in 3rd gear 7.3s 40-70 in 3rd gear 5.7s |
