Thanks Trev. I thought the front Euro plates were a bit large, so I've ordered the slimline (front only). Will take a few weeks to get handmade by convicts...

Washed it finally after some bad weather, hot day then rain then hot day then rain.
Paint took a beating, lots of water spots Might get the RO polished out tomorrow if I can be bothered. |

Hi folks!
My original oil cooler and lines failed on me leaving a horrible mess of oil sprayed across the engine bay etc. Picked up an after market cooler, (G-Plus 25 row core) twice the core size of the OEM unit and with new braided AN fitted lines. The unit came with a mounting kit that only required salvaging the original rubber mounting gromits and top strut to be installed into the new bracket. All fit pretty well into the original location, but did require some cutting of the vent door in the inter guard lining to avoid wheel rubbing at full left lock. But was an easy fix and no rubbing remains. While at it I tried to installed a new BMS oil thermostat and screw plugs (blue!). Unfortunately the two bolts holding my oil thermostat cover plate to the housing are completely stripped! Looks like ill need to eazy them out once I find some replacements. I checked RealOEM and those bolts do not show up as a numbered part! Does anyone have the specs for these little things? likely have to source a replacement locally but I am hesitant to remove them until I have a suitable replacement. A few pictures of the operation, it was my old man, son and myself total job took about 6 hours, four Guinness and two cans of coke. The result after installation is a 10+c degree drop in general city driving and a 20+c degree drop at high way speeds (ambient temps pretty high at 27-29c degrees). My car would typically have an average operating oil temp of 120c (240f) degree or greater on warmer days and now significantly reduced average operating temp. However it still easily achieves target run temp of 100c degree (212f) so as to boil off any condensation/water etc. While at it I undertook a spotlight delete (still waiting on new M3 vents) and completed a full major service, oil, filters, fluids, plugs etc. I am still awaiting delivery of my Bimmerlife Ignition Coils but they will be going in as soon as they arrive, along with some replacement braided brake lines as the existing lines are showing significant age wear during inspection. I’m pretty impressed with the outcome. Last edited by Kalsharith; 02-04-2018 at 03:38 PM.. |

I'd assume the drop in oil temps is more due to the change in thermostat than the oil cooler, yes? I'd definitely like to see a drop in my oil temps (peace of mind I guess). |

New index 12 injectors arrived from FCPeuro so installed them and coded them up last night.
Old injectors but one (cylinder 2) looked pretty good, all six were index 9’s. After install, which took about an hour and coding I tried to fire her up but she just kept cranking but not starting. Was a little worried but assumed it may have needed to pump through petrol into the lines etc. after about 10-15 attempts she finally started up with much relief! Drives well, better response and aceleration based on a quick test drive. Few photos of my midnight operation |

Picked up a CSF Alloy radiator from a member (2qwk4u) at a great price! Thanks mate!
I’ll be installing this beauty shortly, along with replacing all coolant hoses\lines and flushing the sytem out. I’ve still got oil in my coolant as a result of a dud oil cooler gasket and I’m intending to do a complete flush and replace to expel remaining oil out of the system. Looking over this CSF unit I am pretty impressed by the build quality, fittings and weld finish. A few pics to illustrate. |
