Hey guys

A recent owner of an E90 330i with the glorious N52B30A engine, I am really keen on getting to know how to use ISTA (Not sure about ISTA-D/P and which version to use for each) and how to maintain the car to keep it in tip top condition.

I am going to tackle my first oil filter housing/cooler gasket in a few days once I get all the necessary bits, but I do want to try my best to avoid any mess. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me? Also the best place to get good value OEM parts for our cars would be good to know as well.

It would also be cool to know which fluids everyone likes to use for their cars as well? My engine has about 73000 miles on the clock and is running quite well, but I've noticed some oil seeping around the oil cooler/filter housing mating surface so I'm guessing both those gaskets are gonna need replacement.

My only worry is that from all the YT vids I've watched, there is a tonne of mess involved and a lot of fluids that release from the removal of the cooler/OFH. I keep going online to add simple things to my basket like nitrile gloves, 5W30, coolant, if you remove the housing you need to either remove/replace the serpentine belt, it all gets a bit overwhelming and the cost is starting to add up but I want to get better and more confident so some of these things I'll be keeping for a while I know. Its just the initial expenditure that is a bit scary. It would be cool if anyone had some advice to keep initial costs low so that I'm not going around buying everything at once.

Looking forward to my BMW journey with you all.

Hello!

Picked up a 2007 E93 330i yesterday. Used to have a 325i cab E30, but had to sell it due to expansion next year of the London ULEZ.

I love it!!

Unhappy Happy to find you

Hi Guys,

Happy but sad to be here. I'll be posting about some error codes about my N53/330i I've discovered today. Glad places like this exist. Look forward to speak to some of you.

Cheers.

Hi all,

I have had this car for approaching a year now but I thought I would pop up and say hello as I've never really posted.

I have a E90 330i and I just popped some new shoes on her yesterday

Hi Dennis, glad that you’re enjoying the 35i
There should have been some oil, coolant, a couple of coils & a new set of plugs in the boot.

If there’s anything you’d like to know feel free to ask me.
Regards
Roy

Yep those parts were in the boot and came in very handy a couple of days after i picked it up as cylinder 5 developed a misfire
Those spark plugs and a coil pack later all is good again
I think the original turbos were also in the boot
Many thanks for the reply Roy, i’m sure i will hassle you with silly questions at some point
Thank you

Excellent, glad the coil came in handy, that'll be the second of the coils to fail that were replaced a few years ago..2016 maybe?
There were three good 'old' coils that I'd kept, I fitted one of them a few months back, cylinder four I think.
All the issues it's had, repairs & maintaince are all in the 'How much has your 35i cost this month thread if you haven't already come across it.
Hope that you enjoy the 35i, it always put a smile on my face during my ownership & I hope it'll be the same for you. Only thing that it could do with that I know of maintaince wise would be having the intakes walnut blasted, anyways enjoy

Hi guys,
On my second E90 my first was a 320d M Sport in white but now after a bit of a wait I finally found a 330d M Sport in white.

Got a few mods planned and already fitted a M Style gloss black lip spoiler

No not really as I never had it done, was always on my list of jobs to do. Maybe contact some Bmw indies & have an ask.
Btw did David tell you only to run it on Super unleaded? When it was remaped I had it tuned to run on 98 octane

I’ll have a look into the blasting as would like to get it done, He did mention about the super unleaded and i’d done some research too, so all good with the super unleaded, except the price

No I never used it, was fitted when the I had the ccc upgraded to cic. Mrs Chappers used to play music from her phone via Bluetooth but she had to select songs via her phone.

Maybe try starting a thread in the technical section & asking the question, plenty of knowledgeable people on here.

Edit: Just did a quick search on here, see link below. It seems that you can't use glovebox usb for music with the business nav...you learn something new everyday

Cheers Chappers, i’ll do some more research and see what i can find, only reason i asked about importing it to the car is because there is some music stored on there already so thought it would be fairly straightforward
Thanks for the reply

The music on the hard drive is imported from playing & storing cd's. When playing a CD you can choose to save it via the idrive. Hope your enjoying the tunes

If you want to play music from your phone & control it from idrive/steering wheel buttons you could retro fit/have fitted a combox
