I managed to get a 4 series convertible with 115miles on the clock, shame that I only had it for a couple of days.

Took my car in today, got a nice 320d MSport as a courtesy car.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually liking the auto gearbox

My cars been in for three days now and just received an email video of them literally checking the tyres and confirming all are ok - very random as the only form of communication in three days.

Called to see what was going on with chain etc and they then informed me my MOT has expired and they can MoT it for me (my mot is valid and certificate was in glovebox)

As for the chain they are replacing it all and should get the car back tomorrow.

Got a new 1 series 118d sport fully loaded as a courtesy car and it's actually really nice, tempted to get the misses one!

Got my car back from Ridgeway BMW in Hook. They top chain had stretched by about 2mm, they replaced that. Didn't charge me for insurance excess either. Pretty good service to be honest.

Its an embarrassingly ugly piece of sh*te.

They should be embarrassed for sticking their badge on it.

Garage List
Mines all booked in. Thanks for the heads up on this.
Been told that they will need the car for 1 day to complete the initial check.
If chain has stretched more than tolerance allows then they will need it for a further 3/4 days.

Picked my car up yesterday after being in with them for two days, no mention of the chains being replaced and when I looked under the bonnet nothing looks like it had been disturbed at all, no smudge marks or finger marks on anything, all still covered in dirt..didn't get an invoice for any work done either..

So is this only on the pre Lci models or does it still affect facelift e90's?

Looking at buying one soon but want to make sure I don't buy a knacker.

No doubt in time it will affect later models aswel, thing is if you buy one thats up for being done, its then done and you dont have to worry

Find the PUMA report in this thread. Pre-Lci cars will be getting the revised parts that LCI models now have. According to BMW no car from March 2011 should have any issues at all.

Great thread, as I understand, the QE comes with no costs incurred, however, if the car needs the full works concerned, new chains, etc, will they charge? The car in question has full BMW s/h bar this year.....

No charge for any of the possible operations in the QE.

There's now a blanket QE of n47 timing chain and tensioner.
I'm not sure if customers are being mailed or not but we did our first during the week.basically tensioner is checked first and if out of spec then chain and tensioner etc is replaced. If tensioner is under a certain tolerance then only that is replaced without chain.Hope this helps.
Big thanks to KrisM79 for the heads up on this.left car in on Wednesday and picked up on Friday they just replaced the tensioner. Omg what a difference to the sound of engine . Doesn't sound like a bag of spammers anymore .
