Next car 2006-2008 zo6
Looks like the prices of the zo6's is coming down a bit now that the new stingray is out. For about 40k, you can buy a 2006-2008 corvette zo6 with super low miles. Makes me kind of regret getting my 2010 335xi lol.
The car is already a super car bargain at a very low price, and now that the price is coming down quite a bit for about 40k you can basically have a super car, literally. I'm curious to know what others thing about the c6 z06, especially buying a used one for around the 40k mark. I'm seriously debating on getting one in the next year or so. |

I've actually been checking out C6's lately also. Not much need for more than two seats right now, and seeing the prices drop like they have has been real enticing to make the move.

It's arguably the most reliable supercar you can buy. I love them.

Be sure to read up on this for those model years. Luckily most z06's are extremely babied. It is not rare to find a 2006-2008 with less than 20k easy miles on them. |

I owned a 2006 Z06 from new for about 3 years.
It is without a doubt a supercar. The car is amazing! A 7.0 liter engine reving to 7,000rpm. I put a Corsa exhaust on, a Callaway CAI and shifter and that was it. I had velocity yellow with comp gray wheels, 1LZ package so it was really stripped down with no nav or side airbags in the seats. Yes, they are very twitchy when driven at 9/10s, but I've read quite a bit about changing the tires to Michelin PSS and alignment will help massively. I installed Sparco racing seats in my BMW. I would highly suggest the same in the Corvette. It is amazing the difference in how the car feels and the ability to drive the car hard without worrying about sliding around. You could get the Sparco Chrono and they still have a recline function so they'll be more comfortable than a full race bucket. They're only $500 each, so you'd be able to install both seats with sliders and mounts for under $1500. For all those who complain about the interior materials - just take them for a ride. They won't even notice the interior. Yes, they are a performance bargain. 3,130lbs and over 500hp! Just a couple upgrades and it'll be an absolute blast!

It has exotic materials (CF and aluminum spaceframe), aero dictated by racing and a successful racing program. It does have exclusivity as well. You may see pretty many standard C6s, but not Z06s. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...-z06-road-test http://www.businessweek.com/stories/...nancial-advice Drive one and you'll know.

What is the "definition" of supercar? Well per Wiki: supercar A supercar is a very expensive and fast sports car. Supercars are marketed by automakers as unusual and include limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard-looking cars modified for power and performance, as well as models that appeal to enthusiasts from smaller manufacturers. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar If the z06 is coming down in value, it is no more a supercar per the definition Just another sports car on the road...

I guess you could make that same argument for most "former" supercars then. In all seriousness, this is a stellar option for many people. My 2006 Z06 had an MSRP of $68,000. They raised the price several times after the initial release. This kind of performance is not going to be easily found for $40K.

So yes, go ahead, say its not a supercar because it doesn't meet supercar standards of over the top leather and hand built craftmanship. The only thing handbuilt on that car is the ls7 and IMHO, thats all that matters. When you blow past the guy in an F430, hell even a 458, don't be jealous that he's in a supercar, have a laugh and pass the next guy on the track |

I did a little digging on Corvette Forum trying to find a nicely modified Z06.
Full suspension and engine build making just under 600 rwhp for the asking price of $44K! http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...per-clean.html

And for me it's more than just performance. Even if a Corvette would blow past everything on the road, I'd still get a slower Porsche, Ferrari or whatever else you can think of. We live in America. What's the point of having a fast car? Might as well get something that looks proper. |

No, the zo6 is not a supercar.....nor is a gtr.... or a viper. Just because it performs as well, or better than cars that are widely considered to be supercars (such as some variation of a Lamborghini for example), it does not mean it's a supercar.

It's a completely different feel from the BMW, low, wide and heavy (even though it's lighter). However, stock v stock it rode as good as my 135i did, and handles way better. There's no better way to make big power than with these cars. I do agree these cars don't qualify as supercars in the definition of exotic and pasted on walls of kids the same way ferarri, lambo and porsche will; however, the capabilities are unreal. For those of you knocking these cars...at the ring... 7:19 zr1 7:22 z06 (z07 magnentic shocks) 7:37 z28 camaro 7:41 zl1 7:43 z06 (the one in question) 7:48 M3 gts Too bad you have an e92, we've got a new member of our family, kind of unplanned, so I've got a 135 and corvette as my family sedans. I am looking to replace my vette with a shelby gt500 or zl1 camaro...or perhaps just a modded 5.0 or camaro SS, and my 135 with a 335 or 535 sedan; however, I will keep the vette if I can't get fair money for it. Might have been able to work you a trade. My vette is forsale well under 40k with more power (less handling and look though). 05 c6, z51, yellow over black 10k miles full options, heated seats, nav, heads up, etc. full exhaust and procharger no accidents never abused. $32,500 in northern delaware.

If you love Corvettes, sure. If you don't, then no. It's all relative and personal. I live in a city where you stumble over Ferraris, Porsches and whatever the hell you can think of. I find myself turning my head when I see a clean muscle car, or perhaps an old school Volvo. At least that's still unique.

To clear up the point I was trying to make, I was simply saying a used zo6 is relatively easy to find and the price is very reasonable for them. For a very low price (relatively speaking of course) a used zo6 is a bargain and has super car PERFORMANCE.
I personally love the car and I'm pretty sure it will be my next ride. |

i love the c6 z06 and the Ls7. i think that is my favorite vette of all time. it looks great, it sounds great , Ls motors can be modded at a good price etc. the list goes on.... if i lived somewhere with better roads and no snow i would get one.
for me i would rather put the 40k toward a stingray. do long tube headers, intake and a tune. have 500HP with a stingray. not to mention used C7s should be well in the low 50k range in a year or so. |
