DCT adaptations reset

Please, please, please, please, please! Can anyone help me figure out how to reset the DCT transmission (adaptations) using INPA?

I don't want to use the holding down the throttle method.

I get these 3 options and can't read any of them?

I have the V54 datens installed.

I dont know the answer to your specific issue, however I will explain one I had recently which is very similar.

Although I had datens installed, I could not select my engine in INPA, none in the list I could read as I needed DDE 7.3 and it wasnt there. It was because I needed to add a line to the CFGDAT to tell INPA that was an available selection. Sounds like this is similar if your gearbox isnt in the list? Basically INPA wont update its lists based on the datens installed, you need to tell it they are there.

Thanks mate. Some people on other forums who have flashed their transmissions to different versions think there aren't any DCT modules and that Bav. Tech is probably the only current method.

You can reset the GS40 adaptation values with Tool32. (C:\EDIABAS\ECU\DKG_90.PRG):

Hey thanks 808AWD325xi!

I'm at work at the moment but going to look into this tonight.
Do I load up Tool32 and find the options inside?

Pretty excited about this but I think I also want to update to the latest DCT firmware as mine is 2009 probably.

You're welcome! In Tool32, open C:\EDIABAS\ECU\DKG_90.PRG and execute the STEUERN_ADAPTION_ZURUECKSETZEN job with the proper argument.

If you're not familiar with Tool32, be cautious and don't randomly execute jobs by pressing Enter. Use the Job menu and select Start Job once only.

Sorry for acting stupid. This resets the adaptations, correct?

What is the argument I need to provide?

Thanks

Yes, it does. The possible arguments were in my original post:
Code:
<ARGCOMMENT>Eingebe des Hexwertes</ARGCOMMENT>
			<ARGCOMMENT>0xA0 = Adaptionswerte Kisspoint K1</ARGCOMMENT>
			<ARGCOMMENT>0xA1 = Adaptionswerte Kisspoint K2</ARGCOMMENT>
			<ARGCOMMENT>0xA2 = Adaptionswerte Kupplungsmomentenkennlinie K1</ARGCOMMENT>
			<ARGCOMMENT>0xA3 = Adaptionswerte Kupplungsmomentenkennlinie K2</ARGCOMMENT>
			<ARGCOMMENT>0xB1 = Adaptionswerte für DRM</ARGCOMMENT>
<ARGCOMMENT>0xB2 = Adaptionswerte des Semischlupfs für Gänge 1-7</ARGCOMMENT>
The specified argument (i.e. 0xa0, 0xa1, etc.) tells the job which adaptation you want to reset...clutch torque characteristic curve, semi slip, etc.

Ah I see. Thanks. Must brush up on my German.

You can use INPA or ISTA/D.

Yes ISTA is actually quite easy and runs automated tests/checking. Under servicing.

Should this be done with the engine running and foot on the brake like how you would do it in ISTA/D?

The Tool32 method just seems to default everything. I personally wouldn't do it for long term use as it may cause excessive or premature wear of the clutches. I did it, it did make the shifts a bit more firm in manual mode but there was more hesitation from a standstill and in D it seemed to hold the gears/take longer to change gears. It may learn by itself over time but who knows how long.

On my car with 144k, i didnt want to chance it so after about 100km I hooked it up to ISTA/D and went through all the resets and calibrations. Some of them must be done with the engine running, foot on brake because it engages the gears to learn the characteristics of the shift valves. For those calibrations, i dont see how clicking reset with the engine off will do it correctly. There was also no mention of a specific drive pattern to follow after resetting everything in ISTA/D. So it's pretty much a drive in drive out affair

I will post up the before and after printouts when i get back in a week. It shows the clutch actuation pressures, shift valve compensation and a few other things i dont remember at the moment.

What is it you need to know?

As juld0zer says, you just load up ISTA/D and follow the instructions. Then it's all done. You just drive off and the transmission relearns as you drive again.

I can't help. Never heard of this. Can you just do the dct relearn again on ISTA/D?
It's there. I've done it myself. I also have 135is flash on the transmission. Rolls forward when idle and off the brake.
