320D LCI Auto Transmission Failure
Hi guys, I have a 2009 320D automatic and was driving on the way to work lat Friday and I was doing about just under 40mph and the car started to judder and was felt like it was hunting for the right gear and all of a sudden on the i-drive a message saying "Transmission Faulty, Drive moderately. Possible to continue journey. Reduced acceleration. Have checked by nearest BMW Centre.
Shortly after I had turned the car off and back on again after a minute and the error message went away and car drove as normal. I connected my Carly onto it and also took it to my local mechanic to run a diagnostic scan and it came back with code 4F8A - ratio monitoring, gearshift 4-5. Has anyone experienced something like this? I've done a lot of googling but mostly mixed answers. Thanks |

you have a gear slip in the gearbox. My best advice to you try the cheaper option by doing a transmission oil and sump change this may help and solve your issue if the slip is not bad.
