Dealer giving me a line of BS?

So yesterday I went to the dealer here to order my E92 335i (Euro Delivery), only to be told there's a 6-8 month waiting period. Also, becuase of this huge demand, he originally said he wouldn't be able to get anything off MSRP for me.

I thought this was a little rediculous, as not only have I bought from this dealership before, but I also am friends with a few people there as well! I had heard people have been getting ~$1k - $1500 over invoice for ED, but this guy after 15 minutes of arguing only would come down $500 (~$2200 over invoice), and refused to budge from there.

He also said that this would be the story at ANY dealer in the NY/NJ area, but that seems to be contrary to what's happening here. Needless to say, I left without signing anything, but I gotta ask you guys... has the market for E92 335s changed that much?

Also, the CA had never done an ED before, so he may have just not known the difference....

I wouldn't buy from a CA who has no ED experience personally; nevermind that he's not moving on price. I think most people are getting 3-4% now.

Unless BMW gets more 335 E92 in the pipline I expect waits will be very long in some areas. The delays will turn off buyer soon, 6-8 months is crazy for a car that is suppose to be the bread and butter for BMW. From what my dealer told me December was the month that demand took off.

that is ridiculous. 6-8 months, make it 6-8 weeks. maybe a little longer because there really is a bigger than usual demand on those cars. 3 months max, though. even depending on area, 6-8 months is outrageous. you're not ordering a ferrari for christ's sakes!

Can I ask which dealer in NJ? One of the dealer in NJ told me 5 months for 335i. The dealer I placed the order said only 6-8 weeks for 328xi coupe but they are still out of allocation after 2 weeks!

My e90 328i is arriving in few weeks.
I ordered that car from Hunterdon BMW (Clinton, NJ) at Invoice + $1050. That came out to be halfway(actually less than) between invoice and MSRP.
Call'em up, and ask for Mark Ongshinko(?)... or just visit them with itemized options you want on your car.

Wow, didn't expect this much response.. the last post i made got 0 responses, haha...

blingbling - The dealer I was at was Paul Miller. The CA there was supposedly a great guy, I guess he just hasn't learned ED yet. Lets hope he learns with someone has more money to burn, haha.

BMWE90 - $600 over invoice sounds mighty nice... but I heard some dealers charge differently for the convenience delivery (some up around $1000!). I'll have to fire a PM off to you

Duke, Paul Miller told me 5 months on 1/3. But I was ordering 328xi! not 335I! so they gave me BS as well. I orderd from Denville BMW and my CA said 5 months on 335 NOT 6-8months!!!

I ordered a 328xi from Flemington BMW in NJ on November 30th and the car was delivered on December 30th!

Now, I grant you that the lead times for the 328xi is probably a lot less than for the 335. But even still, that interval sounds crazy.
