Please advise

All,

Please read below in my signature.

I am having issues with a Flighty or unplanted feeling at speeds over 110... Any advice on what I might need to correct this since adding the current mods?

Your car might not be the issue, it could simply be the road. There is a road I drive on in NE PA that seems flat but once over 80MPH, it most certainly is not and I get the same feeling as you describe.

On the race track it's a different story; on the straights there my car is just fine at the same speeds.

If you don't think it's the road, check your alignment, especially the toe settings. But to me, sounds like it's the road.

A splitter attaches to your front bumper. At speed it aids in adding additional downforce to the front of the car, they also look pretty cool.

Haven't heard of anyone changing the tie rods on our cars for something other than the OEM part. Control arms/tension struts, yes (most common replacement is the M3 version or Meyle HD).

Another thing to check is tire pressure. What are you running? And what tires?

Yeah, maybe its because I'm so low... Not sure. I did change from 18's with 225's to 19's with 235. I had an alignment done prior to the 19's going on. Could this effect it?

No the wheels don't affect alignment. Maybe if the wheels weren't balanced properly, but what you describe does not sound like that is the case.

Once these cars are lowered more than ~1.2" the standard suspension geometry is out of whack and you'll introduce weird handling characteristics. It gets worse the lower you go. How low are you? But that's besides the point; in a straight line on a flat road, that wouldn't make a difference.

I can only go back to my original statement that the road might be the issue. Really. I have taken my car to 130+ on the track and it's solid. On other roads, I get the floaty feeling.
Only other thing I can suggest is checking your tire pressures; put them at what's stated on the driver side door sill when cold. Adjust from there if necessary. Over-inflated tires can give you a vague feeling.

QFT.

And actually, it would effect straightline "feeling". As the wheel moves upwards and downwards through suspension travel, toe, SAI, scrub and caster change. Scrub and toe change make a pretty big difference in steering feel.

Check out the gif on this suspension walkaround:

http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...-bmw-328i.html

Obviously, this shows the change when the wheel turns, but similar movement occurs through suspension travel due to the "fuax wishbone" our cars have in front. If you imagine looking from the side of the car, in line with the axle, the wheel moves through kind of an arc/ellipse and as such numerous changes in suspension geometery.

When the roads get worse (more vertical change), this effect is obviously exacerbated.

Cheapest fix is to raise your car a little. ... or that $5000 Vishnu proprietary suspension kit
