ATC 300, 5 series vibration dampener on e91

Hi everybody. First post. Finally registered after a long time soaking up the excellent signal-to-noise ratio for free.

I'm replacing the transfer case on my E91 because the front output flange has a bunch of slop causing driveline vibration. It's also a good excuse to put a clutch in (288k miles on the original, I'm actually more concerned about the DM flywheel failing). The front driveshaft is new(ish) so I'm assuming the Tcase side uJoint seized up on the old one while a previous owner had it and damaged the output flange in the process.

Picked one up a low mileage ACT 300 from a local scrap yard out of an '08 5series.

There is a big rubber vibration dampener on the end of the transfer case that isn't present on the e91. See link to part #19 on realoem.

Assuming it doesn't interfere with my center tunnel and manual shift linkage I'm inclined to just leave it on. I can't imagine it would cause any problems.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Closing another loop:

The vibration dampener fit into a manual gearbox e91 tunnel without any interference.

No idea if it actually makes a difference. The old transfer box had a shredded front output shaft that was causing some pretty bad driveline vibration. The car is considerably smoother but I attribute that to the new (to me) front output.
