Replaced door mirror, No I have problems and need help.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am looking for help. My E90 330i driver side mirror is basically toast. when I used the power folding option to fold them out and drive, it either no longer stops or goes way beyond the stopping point before stopping and is at a bad angle so I cant see out of it (From what I can find, this is a common issue). I looked at the mechanism and noticed that it has been worn down too much and cannot be fixed on its own. I bought a replacement assembly from a junk yard and when it arrived it was easy to replace except I have one problem which is why I am here searching this forum for answers. After I installed the new, used mirror, and plugged it in, the window and mirror controls stopped working and the drivers side mirror glass moves down. If I manually move the glass the motor moves it back down so I am looking at the ground. If I unplug the mirror, I regain the controls for my windows and passenger mirror and the passenger mirror will also power fold back and forth like it should, I just cant control the drivers side mirror at all. Can anybody point me in the right direction to get this fixed. Thank you in advance.

I had a similar situation happen when swapping on different mirrors a while ago.

When you say “swapped in the assembly” what does that mean? All the motors/boards/electronics? Just the hinge mechanism?

What my issue was, the mirrors I was installing were NOT from a CA/MEMORY/FOLDING car and the electronics didn’t communicate properly with each other. I left them unplugged for a while and manually moved the mirrors to the proper location and sold the car a little while after.

Your best bet is to use RealOEM to figure out what your current car uses for the mirror assembly and find another on eBay and swap mirror covers over.

See if the mirrors have the same amount of pins. There are 3 pin and I think 5 pin. The prior owner of my car installed an aftermarket passenger mirror and it has 5 pin and the car has 3 pin. If I plug it in the mirror just tilts all the way down and keeps running. I am going to pick up some used mirrors tomorrow and see how that goes.

Memory, heat, dim, folding is 3 pin. Other non optioned blue glass is 5 pin. It should be plug in and go if you are using the same version of mirrors.
