Time for a wireless charger

I'm using an Inbay universal wireless charger and OEM sunglass holder from FCPEuro.

Cut some plastic from a storage box.

Removed the cigarette lighter wiring and connected the charger wiring.

Tested and works great. Now looking for some black suede or alcantara to cover it.

Lords work right there! Nicely done. I'd love to do something like this in the Lexus but to those who own/drive one, you understand the cell phone issue. There is absolutely nowhere for a cell phone in a damn Lexus. Either in the pocket or under the right thigh.

Which raises a question, why don't car manufacturers hire average joe's for consultants of what we would like in a car???

Blow are links and part numbers. I spent some time trying to find exact items used here. This is what you want I think.

Thanks for the idea!

Allow me to re-phrase that. Not average joe's, but perhaps enthusiasts.

Finally covered with black suede which tuned out to be a perfect match with the OEM alcantara gearshift boot.

I use this spot for an android phone that displays 6 gauges via MHD. Every few days I bring it in to charge it..this is perfect, thanks OP.

Do you know if there are other needed parts if the vehicle was ordered WITHOUT the smoker's package? This means I already have the tray you bought from ECS, but don't have the cig lighter to plug into

Not sure about that, you'll have to pop off the centre console trim and take a look.

If I run Waze on my phone wired it won't keep up it still depletes
the charge though not as fast . could be the chargers don't have
enough wattage to keep up . There are some articles that say wireless
charging will shorten your battery life. Plenty that say it takes more
than twice as long for passive charging and uses a lot more Watts.

I agree with what you're saying ctuna (although I'm not familiar with the battery life studies). I have both wired and wireless - not saying wireless is better, just more convenient. Like my earbuds - my $400 wired earbuds sound better than my $40 bluetooth ones.... but I definitely prefer the bluetooth ones 99% of the time

This is for convenience and cool factor. Using more watts makes exactly 0 difference when your alternator is cranking out 180A @ about 14v regardless.

I'm finding it extremely useful to keep the charge topped up and also as a convenient phone holder. Never came close to flattening my battery while using wireless Apple carplay.
