AC leak

Was recharging my AC today (wasn't blowing cold) and during the recharge some hissing slowly built and kinda "erupted" (not catastrophically lol) near the windshield washer reservoir.

After that event lol I slowly emptied the can, pulsing the trigger. This hissing would come back after 1-2 seconds of filling, but as soon as I stopped the hissing would go down.

So I'm guessing there's a leak somewhere in the line. What common leak points/fittings are there on the HP line? I think the refrigerant I was using was dyed, so do I need a UV light to find the excess?

It sounds like you were triggering the overpressure release valve on the compressor which vents to the atmosphere to prevent the compressor from mechanically scattering.

That means you overfilled the system.

Compressor probably isn't damaged. The pop-off valve is there to prevent damage.

The system probably should be evacuated, drained, re-oiled, and refilled by somebody competent with appropriate equipment.
