New FRM under warranty, will dealer wipe my DDE tune?

Just found out my FRM is fried and it's covered under the extended warranty. However I've heard that in order to code in the new FRM, they have to re-code the entire car, which will wipe out any engine tunes. Can anyone confirm?

I can't confirm it for a FRM replacement but I'd almost guarantee it. I was eligible for the complimentary combox upgrade and sure enough, even after I told the SA to please just update the affected modules, they went ahead and just did a blanket update on the whole car. He said they "can't" do specific modules, they have to update the whole car.

I had to borrow a battery jumper pack from the techs and reflash MHD on the spot (long flash). And lost all the custom coding I did. Spent at least a hr the next day redoing all that too.

It depends on what tunes you have. If you have a flash tune (such as MHD) "AND", your DME has the latest software release, the DME won't be touched.

However, if your DME has outdated software, or you had the PPK installed by anyone other than BMW, then it WILL be flashed and returned to the latest OEM version.

Yes, can confirm that the warranty replacement of my FRM module did include a full re-code of the entire car, including DDE. Thankfully the folks at AA Rodriguez were able to re-flash it and have it back to me the next day.
