Hi, I've got a 2008 e93 335i w/ the hi-fi system. Looking to get a sound system upgrade and going with the Audison Prima system. Not doing an amp upgrade yet but was advised that this needs to be installed in the booth and would require disassembling the whole roof mechanism. I'm very hesitant to do that because I'm worried that it increases the risk of issues of leaks, mechanism problems etc when put back together.

Anyone done this before? Any other places it can be installed which would avoid having to disassemble the roof mechanism?

Appreciate any advice!

Audio Prima system what that never hear of it.

Better to change the amp it's the weakest thing in the stock
system if it's better sound you are seeking.

The stock amp is not going to have enough drive for aftermarket speakers.

Seems like you guys down under like Audison a lot .
I don't really think they give you that much bang for your buck.

If somebody told you the roof had to come off go some place else.
This is BS. It just has to be in a semi open position to get to the
amp behind the rear wheel well.

Bimmertech amp if you want a somewhat packaged deal.

Look at the amp in 2:15 in the above link it shows
the amp and they didn't have to take the roof of to get to it.
Also this is a good video to check for the things that will
cause leaks in an e93.

Super easy to change the amp out on a Hi Fi system but power wires
of a decent size should be run to the battery . Technicpnp Harness
recommended if the amp or dsp does not have a plug and play interface.

IF THEY TOLD YOU THE ROOF HAD TO COME OFF RUN AWAY QUICKLY

Do a search for audison here we advised another of your mates on this subject.
Also it would be a good idea to state exaclty what you are trying to achieve.
Just put in a decent sound system or some really big subwoofers to make your car
Fart.

#3 telling you to run if they mentioned taking the roof off. I don't even own my E93 anymore and I'm nervous just reading it.

I have an E93 and at no stage did the roof had to be touched other than opening and closing it for better access. The prima range is a good upgrade and I'm currently using the 8 inch woofers underseats with a custom baffle I made.

I would suggest going through the plug and play route if you want to make things as easy as possible. In my opinion, if i was to rework my system, it is definitely worth buying plug and play kit to make your life easier.

a Simple speaker upgrade should take around a day or so. Get some sound deadening in too while things are removed. It will make a huge difference.
