Buying 2007 330i from BMW Main Dealer?

Hi, new to this forum but I've not long sold my 2007 Z4 and I have been looking for an e92 330i. Eventually one has cropped up at my Local main dealer and is exactly what I've been after (never happens to me!) I haven't seen the car yet as it's being prepped, it's only just come in.

Now I've never bought a car from a dealer in the 18 years I've been driving so wanted to pick your brains about what I could get away with asking for either be it warranty wise or new brakes/tyres etc if any of them are past it.

It's not a new car being a 330i Manual e92 with 75k but coming from BMW Stratstone I didn't want to buy the car and then walk out empty handed if I new I could get half price servicing or half price warranty if I'd just asked.....any thoughts or tips? As I say I'm out my depth with it, is haggling on price a done thing even??

Thanks

Adam

I would suspect if it's a BMW approved used car it'll come with a years BMW warranty

As above , if it's approved used you'd get a solid 1 yr warranty plus there are Approved used standards which mean brakes , tyres , must be good and no service required within a reasonable timescale.
You could try and haggle for another year's warranty or more simply for something off the price.

If it has the N53 engine, haggle for another years warranty and insure all 6 injectors are/have been replaced, together with the high pressure fuel pump.

In addition, i would say first try to get cash off, i got around £3-400 off each car i enquired about. Next all brakes, tyres and service will be done. The car has to be a good standard to get to be a used approved car. When you go to see it anything you notice in terms of marks on bodyword and alloys you can ask them to fix it and they usually do for free. Alloys are usually all refurbed as part of the prep anyway.

I had a used car from bmw and had a problem with the convertible roof, the dealer was a bit of a nightmare but in the end they paid over 4k to sort it. If anything happend while your in warranty you should be fine. despite my problem i highly recommend a bmw used car.

Brilliant thank you for the replies, I have done a bit of reading on the N53 and it's issues so that's my first call to check that the recalls have been done....when done how strong are the replacement parts, are they revised items?

I will most defiantly push for a 2 year warranty with them included...

Just waiting for them to get the prep done as I haven't seen it yet but got a deposit down on it.

Choice was between a Mk5 Golf R32 and 330i Manual and I was beginning to think I wouldn't find a decent one of either...

With a two year warranty you'll almost definitely end up with all the injectors being replaced by the latest index 11 items if they haven't been done already. Jury is still out on how well these will last but they certainly seem better than earlier versions as you'd expect.

Get yourself a diagnostic tool so that you can check regularly for codes which are present but do not illuminate the engine warning light (NOx sensor failure being the fav for this engine!) so that you can make full use of your warranty.

We've had our N53 engined 330i manual for a year now and it's a cracking car and amazingly economical to run for a heavy 3-litre beastie so luckily I can forgive its fragility. Enjoy!

Agree on n53. Ive got one in an auto f10 and the economy is pretty decent. It's like a rocket in lower gears too (8spd box). Get inpa or rheingold and also learn to look out for the tell tale signs. Exhaust getting super sooty in short time can suggest something is wrong. Very lumpy when cold start etc.

Well the dealer rang and told me the car is not fit for retail so it's off to auction...something to do with the valves in the engine/exhaust valves or something

Pissed off big time, knew it was all too good to go through and me end up with a decent 330i in the spec/price I want....fed up with looking now

Might have a run up and see if it's actually there and speak to someone about it

This does happen a lot, as i said before the car has to be good enough to be a used approved car, if it needs to much work or they think alot will go wrong in a year they wont sell it. I spent 2 years looking for mine, take your time and you will find a good one.

How about this one:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-BMW-3...QAAOSwsXFZFkMl

Manual and 45k miles - mondial BMW warranty on that mileage should be around £60 a month.

+1 re 2 year zero excess warranty. Easily the best benefit from buying from dealer.

Only thing is on the third year when you carry on the warranty through BMW insured warranty, at 100K it will not cover all parts & likely to get expensive.

I doubt I could comfortably afford one if things started to go wrong with it

Yeah they can be expensive, I have been reasonably fortunate with mine over nearly five years & 50000 miles.
Almost 104k now & still on original turbos & injectors, have had a water & fuel pump though

There's some very reasonably priced early ones about
