335i missfire problem
Ayy one got an idea of what could be my problem on my tourer ? Started to get a miss fire under hard acceleration then got a check engine light shortly followed by the reduced power engine light . Rac came out and got 29cfmissfire cylinder 3 29d9 missfire detection fuel tank low 2d59 Dme internal fault monitering actual torque . He changed the coil on cylinder 3 and all plugs . And cleared codes. Seemed all good for about 20 miles . Any one had similar ?

Misfires can be caused by lots of things, from plugs to injectors.
I'd look at changing the plugs for new ones straight away, then move onto coils if that doesn't help.

I've got a very similar issue to this. When accelerating hard car misfires, engine management light comes on and car just shakes. Come to a stop at a junction and the light goes off and things are fine till you give it the beans again. I have similar codes to you too
Its going in to BMW on thursday, will let you know what they find |

It can be a fuelling issue if it is detecting fuel tank low. Maybe fuel pump starting to play up and the remap is demanding that little more from it. HPFP is a common component to play up on the 35i cars.
The remap will start to highlight any weak points more and more than under normal mapping as it's pushing everything that bit more.

So BMW still have my car, yesterday they said they're changing an injector, coil and spark plugs to see if it fixes it and will test this morning. Haven't heard anything yet but I'm not convinced it will work. I hope I'm wrong

So will try swapping coils over and see if it's that or plug or injector. Only issue I have is that it is only throwing it up under the higher power/boost with the JB4. Standard mapping is still ok so will struggle to get it sorted under warranty. But yours should be fine if they are swapping all three (injector/plug/coil).

Mine seems to only throw An engine light when im using flappy paddles and Wot. In auto sport it seems ok .Speaking to BMW yesterday they said you could change just one injector . I thought you had to do it in 3's .

I was told you have to change 3 if you put the latest revision in.
You can mix index 1-11 but as soon as you go to 12 or 13 you have to do them in banks (3s) hence why I had to change all 6 of mine as they went from index 4 to 12

Further update, changing coils, injector and plugs hasn't solved the issue and they're now baffled. Have asked me to keep the 330d loan car till next thursday while they investigate.

I had a issue last year, car was going into limp mode on hard acceleration & was reading fuel pump plausibility & loss of boost it was also a bit rough on idle. Booked it in at my local BMW dealers & was told could be injectors, fuel pump, HPFP & or fuel sensors. As the cars not under warranty I didn't have any of the above done. I did a bit of research & decided to have a new battery fitted & coded, car now runs fine.
If your works being done under warranty then you may as well let them keep throwing parts at it, if not maybe a new battery will sort it |

So now they've changed plugs, coils, injectors and the fuel pump but the problem persists. Like you say, I'm covered under warranty so happy to let them change what they like, plus I have a nice new 330d which I've done 600 miles in since they gave it to me last thursday! |

I hope you fix the fault.
Iam after a 335i really like them, test driven a FBO N54 one, but they do seem to have a few issues, although from research the plugs, coils and injectors arent too expensive and the one im close to buying has had the HPFP done last October...... I have a 335d F30 courtesy car at the moment, and I really don't like the engine, its horrible. Its either off, or on. its really difficult to make sedate progress from slow speeds, either barely moves, or the turbos kick in and off it goes. Not that impressed with the interior either. |
