Steering Angle / Position Sensor Re-calibrating ?
Can anybody recommend a garage that does this in the Beds, Bucks, Herts, South East, North London area ? I'll be changing my tyres and rear shocks soon and then having the four wheels aligned. I need to finish it off by having the steering angle / position sensor re-calibrated as I occasionally out of the blue get the ABS and Traction control light come on until I switch the car off and on again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you pull the negative lead of the battery off , leave 5 mins then re connect the negative the car will ask you to do a full steering sweep left and then right and that should calibrate the steering angle sensor.

Had this done at the weekend, any good garage should be able to do it if they have a laptop and 5 mins spare.
Just avoid BMW because they will just charge you a diagnostic fee which I believe is £100. |

Few months ago I had new set of Eibach pros fitted and the DSC Hydro unit rebuilt/refitted - for 2nd time in 15k miles
When I got car back the C110 scanner was showing all sorts of whacky errors logged: 4C13 - Status DSC 19E 4C23 - Torque DSC B6 4C28 - Speed 1A0 49F3 DDE - Speed CE 438D Botschaft - ANF_RAD MOM_PT, 0xBF 4C03 - Cruise control/ACC194 4992 - Instrument cluster1B4 4458 DDE - Steering-wheel angleC4 Looked around on internet and decided to reset/recalibrate the steering angle sensor. You just full lock left, wait 10secs, then full lock right, wait 10 secs...engine off/on All my error messages went away I guess my mech pal may have inadvertently set it in calibration mode when bleeding brakes (lock to locking the steering for access I guess) or something! |
