Calling 335i N54 DCT owners

Im FBO and got a transmission overheat message the other day. Barely driven it since.

Iam having the oil/filter done on the gearbox when the oil comes in.

Is anyone else running FBO with the DCT gearbox? I had read it should be ok on the stock turbo's I hope my box isn't damaged. Indy I took it to said 1 of the clutch packs is worn and you cant replace them......

I have also read you can remap the gearbox and the remap is important for the pressure it puts on the DCT.

Who are the best tuners, people to speak to in the UK about these cars?

Car was dyno'd by previous who fitted all the mods at 407bhp and 500lbs/ft it has a MHD tune

Seriously worried.......

I do recommend JF Automotive in Kent

Well worth a visit, they did my gearbox after I had the engine re mapped.

I was pleasantly surprised, quicker response/gear change and quieter

Hey Smokey,

Sorry to hear about your issues.

I'm going FBO in the next few weeks on my N55 DCT so I'm doing a lot of reading through n54tech forums to see what some of the US guys do when it comes to their DCT worries and it looks like most try to go for a custom map on the car to hold back a little on the torque... I know that isn't much help but it might be worth considering tweaking your MHD map.

I will follow this thread closely. Please do keep us all updated.

Its a long way from me though Steve that is, ill have a look though.

Yeah that is an idea Ste, are proper remaps still done on these engines, rather than these flashes?

I don't see a gearbox remap sorting your gearbox overheat issue.
Has it done it since?

The 7DCI600 trans in your car is rated @ 600nm

I would suggest reading through the n55 section on this forum and trying to contact a guy called Justin from MHD. Unsure on his username, but I keep reading lots of positive things on his custom tunes.

Now I'm not sure if he needs your car, or whether he can tune from logs, but he may be able to help if you have a general chat about next steps and explain your concerns.

FYI - These are where I do most of my reading on my commute to work. The US generally seem ahead and more fbo guys over there.

Good luck and do keep us posted!
