Anyone here heard about STD Suspension? I recently sent them an email for a quote since a coworker of mine (not a bimmer) suggested to check them out. This is the reply I got and it's cheaper.
"Yes we have suspension systems for BMW E90/92. For the 335 XI model, only the spring rates should change, I called our local BMW dealership and he confirmed that the suspension should work on the XI. We recommand you the Std R3, everything is adjustable, height, pre-load, compression and rebound. The kits also includes the front camber plate. With a KW V3, to lower the car you need to lower the springs, therefore you lose shock travel, with our systems, you adjust the height by the lower mount, therefore you keep 100% of the suspension stroke travel" |

This is from STD Canada (see email below from one of their rep). Their Head Office might be in US but I am not sure if it's available in Europe. Note prices are in Cdn $$. I just noticed they have a section in Facebook and I saw a Cayenne using this suspension.
"Price for the R1 (Height adjustable, dampening adjustable, pre-load adjustable) 1379 $ Price for the R3 (R1 + front pillow ball upper mount + adjustable camber) 1489$ Booth are in stock in our Canadian Warehouse, price are in CAD, free shipping, no hidden fees, no duty fees. At your door in 24 to 48 hours. Max H. Std Standard Canada canada@stdsuspension.com" |

I read this whole thread and I am still not satisfied with an answer to my problem, although it's been asked here more than once...
I just bought a 08 335xi and want to lower the car a bit. Eibach springs would be my choice. Question is : is the "rake" (front sits higher than rear) gone with these springs? I have a limited budget as I want to upgrade the power first, but I do mind the gap, especially in the front. I am one of only a few 335xi drivers in Belgium, so you guys are virtually my only source |

From my research, you can fit Eibach Pro Kit Springs onto any shock setup, but the thing is that Eibach did not make it specifically for an XI which is heavier than non-XIs. I assume the spring rate will be different because of that creating a different feel on the car. So in summary, yes you can do it, but it's not truly made for our XIs.

i have an '09 335 xdrive coupe. the ride height, imo, affects the overall look of the xdrive noticeably. I want to put a bilstein/h&r set-up, but the reason why i went with a new car this time is for the warranty advantages.
so after reading the above, i have to ask for your opinions; if i were to replace my current "xi" springs with "i" sport package springs, do you think the mod would fly under the radar with the dealer.... Also, it is important to know that it is a certified pre-owned, and the car could have very well have been modified by the previous owner... and since it was replaced with oem, it wasnt caught before... Also, can anyone who has done the after market swap let me know on the dealership's reaction and/or any horror stories? Thanks |

Any suspension changes you make will affect the warranty. In other words, if BMW determines that something on your car failed because of the suspension mods that you have done--it won't be covered. The good news, is that there is very little chance that the suspension modification you make will cause you something suspension related to fail and not be covered by BMW. For instance, the KW V1 coilovers come with a lifetime warranty--so if anything happens then you would be going to them for a replacement rather than to BMW. Not sure about the warranty relating to Bilstein/Eibachs though. The dealership will know if something has been changed. Many people change suspension on their BMW--you shouldn't worry about the BMW warranty regarding suspension too much. Also, you won't want to put ZSP springs from an "i" on your "xi" with stock shocks. There have been numerous threads about bouncing and it wearing out the stock shocks very quickly. You are better off replacing it with coilovers or sport shock/spring combo.

AGREED. I would do anything to get some upgraded suspension components for the front of my xi. I have all the compatible m3 stuff out back and need something for the front to get that more direct steering feel that the m3 has.
VENDORS get on it! I would be first in line for quality parts!

Hi folks. I just got a 2011 335i xDrive coupe, and, like many here, wish to lower it an inch or so. I was all set to go with the Eibach Pro kit, then remembered something I'd read in an early review of the car concerning a change to Sachs dampers for the '11 model year coupes. I called the parts department at the dealer, and learned the BMW part numbers for the front springs changed from model year 2010 to model year 2011. What I don't know is the nature of the change, but now I'm hesitant to order the springs for fear that they won't work with the revised struts in the 2011. (I also called H&R; they had no info on the 2011 and advised me to hold off buying springs until the extent of the changes in the 2011 cars was determined. Eibach, predictably, said they have no springs for the xDrive configuration.) I'm frustrated but willing to wait to make sure I get the proper springs for the car. If anyone has more/better information on the Sachs dampers in the '11 coupe and how/if it pertains to lowering springs, please post. Thanks!

Just need a clarification...
Is the KW V3 exactly the same for the i and the xi? What is the difference if any? |
