Someone in SoCal buy this please!

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

IDK what the story is here but it says the rod bearings were replaced last year...looks really clean and only 2 owners...

If I was closer I'd already have it in my driveway...

For $10k with new rod bearings I think I’d be willing to take that chance...

Yeah. Less a matter of “if” than “when.”

Trans job could top $10k.

Nice-looking car tho.

Isnt there also a high pressure oil pump that is a "time for a new engine" type of service as well?

There was one here last year. 2007 M5 for 7500cad (6K usd) and had 178km(110mi). Said had rod bearings done but no proof.

We passed on it; My brother decided the 6spd 328 was a better idea and I don't blame him. SMG sucks and rod bearings/throttle actuators get expensive/time consuming even if I'm the one doing it.

I have a 5 series and other than engine/trans and some minor stuff easy to change; its really not that much different than an M-sport model E60

The vanos pump is $4000 or something just for the part. Installation is a big job. And it could grenade and take the engine with it....

I actually sold my e60 M5 last year for 7,500.
Rod bearings had been replaced and so had throttle actuators with invoices in hand. Nothing wrong with it besides passenger seat wouldn't move anymore. Only let it go for so cheap because I needed the money to get my f10 M5. I also included lci tail lights and the car was fairly modded.

I'm really not too keen on the styling of the E60...but black on black it looks pretty good...

I think it would be a cool project / hobby car but would never try to DD it. Seeing those prices is such a trap.

For sure, I wasn't really looking at E60 M5's but if it checks out I wouldn't mind making space for one

The claimed MPG is almost as low as my 335 actually gets

Cheap car to buy, 10k isn't particularly a deal. Notoriously unreliable even for a BMW, even for an M5.
