H&R (rear) Sway - Installed and "canyoned"
So I hit the canyons in my 335i today and man.......big, big difference with the H&R (rear) sway installed. Turn-in is definitely more crisp, sharp and less plowing on the front. What does have to be taken into consideration though is that since there is more load resistance, when it does give out, it does so much more noticeably as well - but the "give" is communicated much better to the driver, thus easier to control.
I originally thought of getting both the front and the rear sways. I strongly suggest to anyone that prior to getting both (unless you track regularly) you should install the rear one first and get "acquainted" with the car's handling, then get the front if you feel the need to do so. I may very well later on, but for now it feels just right. It's got that "point-and-shoot" feel to it. :rocks: MAD props to Technik/AutoTalent (SoCal-Marina Del Rey) for the incredible install. They not only did a fantastic job, but also were very patient in answering all my concerns and questions. Very good pricing and I HIGHLY recommend them.

I'm glad more people are trying and loving the rear only sway bar. Not to long ago, I felt like I needed a flame suit when I suggested this! Nice not to feel alone! :rocks:

LOL......hehe. its really a matter of "feel" at the end of the day. Note that my entire set-up is bone-stock. If you have larger wheels and stickier tires, I suggest getting both - just to balance everything out.

That's great to hear, we are just about to send one out to another fellow fanatic. Rears make a great improvement on turn in as you noted, I'd love to get a ride to see the difference. Hopefully we can get a local guy to install one

I wouldnt imagine so, its pretty intensive, something about dropping the subframe, Im sure others will elaborate further. I got mine for $425 installed.

Dropping subframe to install a sway bar? I guess its possible...I have installed tons of sway bars on Audis...never had to drop a subframe to do those...If you drop the subframe..I would think a alignment would be required. Maybe that is why it cost that much.

I got mine all done for 290$... it was 240 for install... 50 bucks for alignment--alignment was cheap cause i said i had no money left... and i didnt... lol. danny... if you ever decide on getting those sways... get it done @ Auto Innovations. It's a trip for you... going down to Milpitas... probably 30-35mins? but it'll be worth it.

No doubt! I went to AI for my suspension install a while back. At that time, getting the rear only wasn't an option, and the only shop(s) that had actually installed these were all in SoCal. I asked Orlando to confirm the dropping of the rear subframe, and he did. Mine would have been his first install. I may go back for this, I know he has done a few e90's by now! Danny

Same here, doing the LSD and sending out the calipers to get painted as well. Dopping the rear subframe also requires the brake lines to be disconnected so it all works out.

oh yeah......you don't wanna mess with it on your own unless you're a BMW mechanic or at least trained in the ancient art of "han-do-ring" (w/ Japanese accent). The guys at Technik in Marina Del Rey did mine for $420 installed. I was there for the whole thing and it definitely is a lot of work, but they do a REALLY good job and check everything 2 or 3 times. Its great to know for my peace of mind. So for everyone "out" there - yes, its worth the drive fo sho! Look for Sam and he'll schedule everything for you.
