Attaching front registration plate
Hi all,
In the process of having of having my front bumper resprayed and have asked them to smooth out the number plate holes that were there from before. Have had the plate attached with sticky pads for the last 6 months. Whats the best way to attach front plate where i can remove it with ease for cleaning and shows etc. Thanks Brad. |

Never been a fan of tow hook holders, even though some people love them. I think they draw way more attention to the plate, look off center and out of place, and far worse than just mounting in the center. One neat option I have seen is strong magnets on the back of the bumper and plate.

Coming from the dude that thinks the Earth is flat
OP, if you like the tow hook holder, go for US Millworks. I'm very satisfied with mine. I've seen a handful of people here go with the metal brackets that mxchris727 proposed, which seems like a pretty slick method if you don't like the off center look.

The thing about off-center look of tow hook mounts is -- it's only a temporary necessity for times like street parking in a downtown area patrolled by parking officers. You should leave the plate off most of the time for the clean look (that's why you avoid drilling holes!), especially for a photo shoot.
If your situation calls for front plate on most of the time, it's probably better off to just drill holes and mount it, and have bumper plugs ready when you need to admire the clean look.

Just get the OEM front plate holder like a normal BMW. I personally very much dislike the tow hook look. It just seems off; I am a man of symmetry lol
I had some fancy plate holder for a while. It was a big pain in thee ass to install. After a year the screws came loose. Then it tore off in the car wash (that was a scene lol) Just go oem. |
