It won't work with the standard 320d clocks. You need to fit a Hi Kombi clocks from a 6 cylinder car as that has 2x seperate displays between the clocks not just 1 like the Lo Kombi version found in 320ds of that year.

Coding alone is not enough im afraid.

I agree with P14kle, you don't have this feature on a 4 cylinder car. You need to replace the Combi of a 6-cylinder car with an active ring.

I have 4cyl 320i N46 petrol. As long I had the Low Combi I had the small info about setted speed.
Now I have a Hi Version of the Cluster and I have nothing on display.
And that is all what You can have with 4cyl car.
The ring will only work with 6cyl cars.

When I had Lo Kombi and did the coding, nothing changed. I had no display of speed when activated, and the Lo Kombi doesn't have the speed ring around the outside of speedo.

Changed to a Hi Kombi from a 325d (6cyl car) and had the kombi unit virginised. Then with the coding listed in this thread, I now have temporary speed display on activation, and the speed ring goes around the speedo to show setting also.

Car is a 2007 320d

There are three types of CC systems for our 3's

$540 - standard one for 4cyl cars
$544 - with braking function. It fit only for 6cyl
$541 - most expensive version - active cruise control with radar in front bumper. And it is also for 6cyl cars only.

There is no OEM solution to retrofit $544 or $541 to 4cyl car.

And now about clusters:
There are two models - Lo and Hi
Lo does not have the ring and it can show only small info of the set speed on display for short time.
I had $540 CC and Lo version of the cluster and I had this information on display.

Even if You buy a Hi version of the cluster the ring will never work for 4cyl car because this feature was only for $544 and $541

Here I am not sure about one thing - is the Hi version of the cluster has possibility to show small info of the speed on display?

So Asildur I suggest You - check if You have a proper coding of the CC and after that return the coding of Your Cluster to the original and change only this to wert_02

that was the first thing i coded TEMPOMAT_SETZ_ANZ_DAUER to wert_02 but didnt work and then i was trying to code another options but couldnt see anything on dashboard but you said your module was lo kombi and $540 and you could see information on dashboard when you change the speed of cruise control for short time like 3 second?
you also said 'Lo does not have the ring and it can show only small info of the set speed on display for short time.' so why i cant see any information for even 1 second

I do not have this configuration anymore. I bought Hi Cluster and now I have nothing on display when Cc is active.

This is not true at all, until 2006, $544 was controlled by LDM just like $541 is, after that it only depends if your car is equipped with the right DSC pumps and every E92 is since all E92s have brake pad drying.

My e92 is originally a 4 cylinder and I had a factory option $540, I removed it and just coded dsc and kombi with VO $544 and had it work and car automatically applied brakes. With both options I had speed displayed for 3 seconds. In High cluster, screens are just divided by plastic.

A bit later, I just added LDM, a new cluster, stalk and radar and coded it and have acc.

As for the CC set speed being displayed on the screen, every car can do that, mine did not work out right as well but I do not remember anything, it was long ago.

Ok, so it looks the $544, $541 option not work on N46 engines. The N46 ECU is not compatible with specific CAN commands. Am I right?

This is not true. If you can't make him work, it doesn't mean another person can't make him. I am attaching a video of my car e90 320D 2005. The cluster is from car donor 330D 2011.

this is not depend on n46 engine, but on the firmware of the kombi, because after some period 4 cyl got temporary cruise control display
i've retrofitted multiple cruises to 4cyl cars and one time i tweaked kombi parameter on e91 2006 with m47 and got temporary display on low kombi

I tried every option in trace file one by one. It doesn't work with my car. I agree with claims that's a firmware issue. When I look at wert details in nsc dummy, I see files which are valid for many chassis and they're all for kombi_06. However ncs recognizes it as kombi_05 (the instrument cluster in my car) before (writing) coding. That's strange. Because I code kombi by the same way for digital speed. And I again see files for kombi_06 there. Coding works with kombi_05 for digital speed but not for cruise control digital indicator. 🤔
