Vinyl Wrap
I have an Alpine White 07 328i that I'm wanting to redefine cosmetically.
I'm plasti-dipped my rims & side mirrors & after a while it looked plain stupid so I took all of it off. Pure Alpine White now. Is vinyl wrapping worth the hassle? How's the quality of it once it's on? Pretty much in your opinion... is it a yay or nay I should Vinyl Wrap my car? If so what color? Something girly yet intimidating

Is Vinyl worth the hassle? Take a look at these threads and check how sick these cars came out wrapped

The satin finish that you generally get from wraps is pretty badass in my opinion(mine is similar, but painted instead). For girly with kick, I would do a lighter blue with black accents...

Yeah, definitely worth it.
I have seen a matte tiffany blue that can look really awesome if contrasted properly with some black parts.

as for the vinyl wrap color, whatever you end up with, you should consider doing the roof in gloss black like someone mentioned. and also the side mirrors in gloss black to match looks good too.

Considering an electric blue with black roof & side mirror... Thoughts on electric blue vinyl with carbon fiber accents?

I think matte colors are becoming a bit played out and boring.
Satin vinyl wraps ftw. Also, a lot of people seem to not know that matte textures = more pores = easier to get dirty/stained PERMANENTLY (matte white becoming yellowy even when cleaned often). When the shade of color becomes permanently dirty/stained, re-wrapping that panel will make the rest of the car look like a different shade of color. <- Owned a 3M matte white car for a year+, scratched my front bumper and when I tried to "touch it up" by cutting out the a part and re-wrapping it the colors were way off (6 months old wrap vs new wrap). All the satin wrapped cars I've seen in person are way easier to clean. I haven't seen any staining on satin wrapped cars as well. When you get water spots on matte vinyl wraps, they are hard to remove. And if scrubbed too hard, you will polish the matte finish into a satin finish. Thus, might as well get a satin finish in the first place. |

Check out Avery Matte Garnet Red Metallic.
Maybe close to what you are looking for? Also Arlon vinyl is know in the US. They have a matte Aluminum Red and a roasted red. Both are great looking.

I can agree matte white can be a pain to take care of, but I find the other colors very easy. If you know how to clean it (which is not difficult) then staining and rubbing to a shine is not an issue.
Also a lot of companies are now making cleaning and care products specifically for vinyls, including matte. Quote:

Wish I had those cleaning products back then. Vinyl wrapping wasn't nearly as popular as it is now. The secret cleaning product back then was Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser ... lol.
Darker colors in matte are still nice. When I see stuff like matte orange, green, yellow and bright eye catchy colors like that I just wanna throw up. And Avery seems to make some very nice colors, maybe the texture on the Avery vinyl is different as makes it easier to clean than the 3M. |
