As a start, 2a82 and 2a87 are vanos solenoid codes. Easy to replace.

Yes, I'm going to change the solenoids, but my concern is that a rocker is broken or something inside. By the sound in the video, doesn't feel like a rocker, what do you think?

currently have the same ticking noise and got the 2A82, 3100 code. assuming its a faulty solenoid since the ticking goes away when I blip the throttle, just waiting for new solenoid to come in

I have the same codes AFTER replacing VANOS solenoids and the oil filter cap. Mine only throws the codes once the oil temp gets close to 250, so I usually have to drive it hard for 20+ miles.

Prior to replacing the solenoids I was getting different codes, and the car wasn't drivable. From what I've read, now I'm either dealing with replacing the oil filter housing seals, camshaft ledges, or both.

Make of that info what you will, I'm not qualified to diagnose yours. My advice though is to replace the VANOS solenoids first, since they're so cheap. Same with the filter cap. Then at least you'll be caught up with me

I did record the freeze frame data from my test run today, if anyone knows what to make of it. I'm going to start researching it on my own as well.
