Those won't fit our cars "as is". The flange mounting to the exhaust on the end of the DPF isn't correct and there's no place for the DEF injector. The location of the other sensors I can't tell enough about to say if they'd line up or not.

TDI, were you able to get the monitors in Ready mode with the Ecotune? Or did they just disable the code(s) associated with the DPF delete?

Haven't gotten them into ready mode. I tried a couple times to do the drive cycle, but each time there's been some reason why I wasn't able to do the 15 minutes between 40-60 mph and without hitting the brake. One time there was an accident on the interstate that backed up traffic at the 13 min point and I had to brake and come to a stop, another attempt on a county road instead of the interstate I had someone pull out in front of me and there was on coming car so I had to brake ... So I'm still not sure about the readiness. But I'm certain the EGR one won't work if the exhaust path is blocked off. I'm not sure if it would work with the EGR cooler in place and not blocked, as the readiness wasn't looked at when in that configuration.

Just in case anyone is wondering about emissions with a DPF delete, I've recently had mine emissions tested here in the UK and it didn't register a reading at all. A nice surprise when your running 352hp at the crank!

Concerning the bypass pipe that is being built, will we be buying this from Ecotune? Do they know there is a number of us ready to buy? Wondering if I need to contact them to communicate I want in on the first order of DPF substitute pipes. I know TDI has a relationship with them. I'm fairly certain Axle has spoken with them. I've only voiced to TDI and Axle my interest. I'm sure hoping the January 2014 time stimate is accurate. I will need to go back to early in this thread i guess. Not sure if we will be buying from US vendor connected to Ecotune or buying from Scotland themselves. Yes, I'm quite confused.

Ok I got the word from ECOTUNE and Im posting what they sent me ok:
Jan 13 at 10:12 AM Me To Campbell Booth Jan 13 at 1:43 PM Thanks for your response but I pln to purchase the downpipe itself I believe it would be in the interest of everyone. Have u come up with a price for it. Gracias Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note® 3 Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note® 3

-------- Original message --------
From: Campbell Booth <Campbell@ecotune-scotland.co.uk>
Date:01/13/2014 10:12 (GMT-04:00)
To: axelhernandez61@yahoo.com
Subject: Ecotune Enquiry

Dear Axel, Thanks for your enquiry. We are into the very latter stages of our testing of the North American specific DPF removal downpipe. Our flow tested downpipe will be matched specifically to our software. This ensures we are able to match the turbocharger duty cycle to the constant back pressure variable of our downpipes. I have attached some dyno graphs of the x35d we have tuned recently just for you to have a look at. Our DPF removal downpipes will be available for purchase in the early stages of February this year. I appreciate your patience. Would be interesting to know what mods were made to achieve this figure, as I'd be interested in carrying those out. Is nobody worried about going over the torque limits on the transmission? Didn't somebody mention it was around 416lb/ft?

First off, thanks for supplying the dialogue, Axle.
I'm thinking this data represents further mods. The curve that goes to 416.9 hp is labeled stage 3. Not sure about graph that goes to 378 hp. A 90 hp jump (288 to 378) seems like more than just a flash and downpipe. My expectation was more in the 340 to 350 hp range. Not saying your wrong mi amigo, just that is a big jump. |

So I'm guessing Ecotune will or probably has shops in America (highly doubt any in Canada) that would carry out the tune/DPF delete/software update, etc?

I hope so. While the DPF removal doesn't look to hard, Im sure its going to be fairly intensive. Also I would rather have them tune the car with a mod like that incase something doesn't jive correctly. It will prob end up being a mail out thing for most of us though

I'm guessing it will be Redline Speedworx in NJ. They're the one currently doing Ecotune flashes for 335d, x5d, and Mercs.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=27 I was able to do it by myself, but it would be a lot easier with a buddy or two. The above pic was from before shipping it out to Ecotune to make the US downpipe. |
