Best non run flat All Season Tires?
I need ones that also have good side wall. I don't want to be wobbling around on a highway.
Thanks! Last edited by slingxshot; 11-22-2013 at 10:12 AM.. |

Probably something you want to research in the tire forum. Tires are like oil, people can be passionate and opinionated.
For many moons Michelin Pilot A/S was the best HPAS out there IMHO, but plenty of good ones such as the Conti DWS, Dunlop SP's etc...Michelin has a new one out that is just getting some reviews too. happy reading. - b |

You will hear these being thrown around a lot. Michelin PSS (pilot super sport) and hankook ventus v12. These aren't cheap though, albeit cheaper than RFTs.

Don't run the Yokohama A/S envigors. They tended to float and wander at highway speeds. I was OK with that thinking they'd outlast my summer tires. Wrong! I'm at 20k miles on my Michelin PSS with much more tread to go where as the yoko's were completely bald at 17k.

OP said all around - Michelin PSS suck in ice and snow lets be honest here. I am a Michlelin fan and ran then. Michelin Pilot A/S and the Conti DWS are better for "all season". If you don't drive on snow or ice then PSS.

i have conti DWS and LOVE them (even in snow) but the rears are nearly down to the wear bars at ~26k miles. the front have about 60% tread remaining. all highway, properly aligned/inflated
what are other people's experience running these on RWD e9x's?

I have the DWS and they are very good wet and dry. I have not had them in the snow yet.
I know people also like the Pilot AS/3 a lot. |

A/S rft....couldnt think of a worse combination! Make sure you get an "H" or V rated tire if you are looking for stability. I got rid of my RFT after 1,000 kms. WAAAAY better ride with regular tires. Having said that , i believe DWS has been crowned A/s champion by a magazine or 2.

+1 on Conti DWS, but if you really want to wear down the rears, get a 335d.

I was going to get the Michelin Super Sports this past summer, but decided to get a more balanced tire because I do a lot of highway driving - Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Seasons. Really happy with them - quiet, stiff side walls but comfortable ride. Handling is great as well.

THe Conti DWS, I had them on my Subaru and side walls were horrible. At highway speeds I get that wobbly feeling. I didn't feel safe driving...
The only thing they were good at was winter driving |

i won't comment on the speed i routinely hit but let's say when you drive the same route everyday you realize where the speed traps are. glad to hear it wasn't just me with the rear tire wear. i get that it's rwd but i extremely rarely if ever spin my back wheels

I don't think DWS are wobbly
I don't think DWS are wobbly I have then on 17's
Anything in a 17 will feel wobbly compared to the ball bearing early version RFT's. To me they feel more like what I was used to in non RFT car's . |

It's not necessarily leaving rubber on the road on launch. Everytime you accelerate that "pushing" force (torque) coming from the rear tires. The fronts are just rolling with it. The rears do the work, just like on a bicycle, with normal wear, the rears will need to be replaced earlier. Now your fronts will likely wear more on the sides of the tires if they are out of alignment.

At just over $500 (not including installation) I think it's a great deal. Plus, they sent me a $50 rebate debit card. So far they have performed well in the rain. The last set I had on her car was the Kumho's & I won't be buying those again. Performed well enough but got REALLY loud once they had some wear on them. |

It must be the car, my E91 rides like it's on rails at 150mph with the Conti DWS tires on the autobahn, maybe the tire pressures were low on your DWS!
