Had them on a 135i, with 19000 miles. New car, and the sidewalks were so soft I was afraid to go over 90. Smooth, but not precise.
Oh, and they were properly inflated, if not on the high side. |

That's because they are a summer performance tire. I use them in warm weather and they are great. OP is looking for advice on all-seasons.

I ditched my stock RFTs for the Michelin Pilot Spot A/S 3's at the end of september. One word of warning... I ordered from tire rack and they sent me a fresh set of front 18's but my rear staggered set were a DOT date of 2412!!!!!!!! 24th week of 2012.
I had two separate instances of nails in the same rear tire in my first month of ownership (2000 miles). Since the 2nd nail was close to the previous patch (Sonsio) the tire rack warranty folks are sending me a check for the tire. Only the cost of tire... No tax, no mount/balance, no waste tire disposal fee, no shipping cost, and i'm out the road hazard. So i ordered my replacement tire this week from Costco for far less than tireracks prices (all inclusive). Plus i get a 5 year warranty with costco (Sansio only offers 3 years). My new replacement tire is about 1 month old (a very fresh tire). I also get free nitrogen fill from costco!! Morale of this story, buy tires from Costco and get the A/S 3's (run flats suck azz) Long story short, i freaking love these A/S 3's... Even with the punctures... All i had were slow leaks of about 5psi per day. |

You can't go wrong with Continental DW or DWS.
DWS = Dry, Wet, Snow DW = Dry, Wet

Conti DWS x Eleventy Billion
I've tried them on two different cars: a Subaru WRX and a VW GTI. Great when it's dry and impressively good in the rain. Nicely above average in the snow for an all season tire too. I get where people are coming from with the floaty feeling and I noticed it too, but it wasn't an issue as the tires wore in (or maybe I got used to it). They're nice and quiet too. I'm replacing the awful RFT Turanzas with a set of Conti DWS tires early next year. The Turanzas are loud, have awful tread life, are punishingly stiff, and don't offer good feedback.

I have the Bridgenstone Potenza RE960. They have a smooth ride with great handing in the dry and rain, but didnt get much snow last year so can't comment on snow performance.

I went through two full sets of tire changes with the conti dws for a little over two years but heard nothing but great things about the Michelin as/3 so I decided to try something new. Compared to the dws the sidewalls are definitely a lot stiffer but not too stiff where it's too uncomfortable for day to day driving. I think it handles much better than the contis both in the dry and wet. I can't talk about the snow performance just yet bcuz still no snow here in Chicago but so far I've been really happy with the as/3. I think consumer reports tested it and they rated it no. 1 in the uhp category.

Continental DWS aren't as great as people make them out to be. They have two superior qualities going for them: a) they are better than most high performance all season tires in snow and b) they last a long time. In my experience dry responsiveness and grip leave a lot to be desired and ride quality is just average. Kumho Ecsta 4X are much better in everything but snow (not that I have driven them in snow because I haven't but I have driven the continentals in snow and they worked very well). I'm not claiming the 4X as the best by any means but I sure as hell am using them as a reference to confirm the DWS aren't the best all season tires for anything but light snow. Oh yeah the DWS have the cool Snow, Wet and Dry only wear indicator in the tread if your too dumb to tell the condition of your tires.

I think the Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season Run Flat tires are a pretty good choice as well. They are good in normal dry or wet conditions, but I'm not sure how they will do in the snow. I recommend dedicated winter tires especially when there is heavy snowfall or ice. There are mixed reviews on these tires, but I think they are a great set if you are looking for well-balanced tires with low vibration.

What PSI do you run the non-RFT?
I'm thinking of getting the Continental DWS and know that the PSI will have to be higher- with the RFTs it's 28/34 f/r. I have the Bridgeston 3G A/S and they were great for the first 15k miles but after another 8k miles they are loud and rough-riding. I'm ready for the nonRFTs... Thanks.

I have Michelin pilot a/s all seasons on now and they were not good in the winter. They are more of a 3 season tire. I will be switching to dws after the summer.
