I would bleed it first before cranking it. Not the other way around.

Well, the problem is that the car won't turn over, I'm trying to find a viable solution. I have heard that air in the fuel lines won't allow it to start, so where does that leave me?

Is there another thread where they have already discussed the bleeding, i'm just not sure where to bleed from?

This.

Have you checked all electrical connections between the battery and the starter? And earth strap from the block to the chassis?

No actually, I guess now is a good time though since I have the intake off. I just can't find anything on how to bleed the air out of the lines, like where to hook in to pull out or release the air.

Forget about bleeding the fuel system until you've got the engine cranking over

Have you tried to JUMP the starter with a screwdriver or jump button? Checked the ground strap? Like others have said get it turning over before worrying abo0ut fuel.

In this scenario you don't have much of a choice, lol. Figure out why it's not cranking, fix that, then worry about fuel.

How do I JUMP the starter? I guess it's obvious at this point that I haven't tried that, nor have I tried the check the ground strap. I keep wondering if there is something simple I missed with all of the replacements I have made in this car.

Harbor freight makes a button type that you can turn over a motor with a battery ( all mechanics should have 1 they're under 20 bucks ).or you can just go old school and stick a screwdriver across the starter terminals.

Yeah you don't. With the correct tools, you don't need to start the vehicle to essentially bleed the system.

Been following this as it pops back up. Sorry about your troubles. Just to offer some opinions....did you have to pull the ECU when you got your tune or was it via OBD? I remember when I got my ECU (DDE) back from being flashed there were bold letters stating to make sure the plugs were fully snapped in with the latch. Apparently sometimes they don't fully seat and might cause issues. I'd also verify all your fuses, in engine bay and cabin.
In regards to jumping your pump there are some posts in the sticky section threads (DFFF) that discusses removing your rear passenger seat bottom to access the two power wires to jump your lift pump.
At this point you might want to invest a bit north of 200 and get the BG cable and ProTools. It's a great tool you'll use as long as you own the car and can probably help you diagnose some issues you're having...it also can prime your fuel system for you, among a myriad of other things. Good luck, I know how the chase feels...

Cool. So, that links nicely to this thread, and the homepages of a few BMW dealers. Fyi, I can use Google, and have all BMW factory software alongside Protool. I'm yet to find any software capable of bleeding the fuel rail, because that requires the hpfp to turn, which requires the timing gear to turn, which hopefully doesn't happen without the engine turning.

The procedure you're familiar with runs the lpfp, which will bleed the low pressure side of the fuel system (preheater, filter, etc).

Damn, I need to log in here more often. Sometimes even cranking doesn't seem to help much in a few cases documented here!

I have a bonus question for this one, when we get to the end...

(It refers back to the 3rd post in this thread.)
