I am looking for a new driveshaft... I think
Long story short I installed a welded diff in my car which introduced enough load to create play in my already worn out axles. I thought that the axle play was what was causing my vibration under load condition so I replaced them. Drove the car after replacing the axles and although it does feel a significant amount better under heavy acceleration there is still a vibration present that intensifies with load.
The driveshaft is the only other thing that I can think of that would cause this type of vibration to occur. By hand I wasn't able to get any play out of the u joints but I did notice there is some noise that sounds like slop between splines towards the front of the driveshaft. I will get under the car this week with a pry bar and check the u joints that way as well as get a video of the noise I am talking about towards the front of the driveshaft. All of this to say I am likely in the market for a new driveshaft and was curious if anyone had a good used one for sale or know where I can order one from. FCP euro has them new for $1700 shipped but I am wanting to exhaust all other avenues of procurement before I pull the trigger on a new one. |

Driveshaft Specialst of Texas. <$600 shipped. I used them for my E90. I've put over 100,000 miles on it. Smooth as silk.
Ships via UPS. Reusable shipping container and prepaid return label. Easy as milk. http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/...0html/BMW.html Last edited by Efthreeoh; 02-21-2024 at 08:07 AM.. |
