Just picked up my first BMW. Went with a N54 E90 and cant wait to build it. Had it a few days and already ordered DCI's and a chargepipe with bov. Prior to this I had a 400whp Hawkeye Subaru which was a blast. Since these are slightly heavier but also a straight 6 what do you suggest I get in order to beat or atleast run with my old car?

A tune alone... TQ will be much higher.

Those boxer engines are pretty torquey. From the factory they make the exact same number and the Subaru is about 400 lbs lighter

Unlike the Subaru, you biggest bugbear is reliability. Deal with the survival mod first. Ain't gonna beat anything if it throws codes everyday. Both cars have different focus. I came from the Nasioc camp and Subarus can take a beating. BMWs not so much and with the n54..... Try not to sneeze when you start the car.

Since when can subarus take a beating? I went through three engines in my sti before selling it. Stock and na subies can take a beating but not built. They have head gasket, ringland and spun bearing problems. Can handle 400whp if you're lucky
