Hello, I was wondering if I could get some information on a deal that I found. Recently been looking for a wagon, e91 or f31. I found a deal on craigslist that seems very good, but didn't know if it was bad or not.
2009 328i RWD, 105k miles, red/black, sport package, xenon lights, no carfax report. It's listed for $8500, and I didn't know if this would be something to just look into more, or if it's worth it to just buy it. Of course I'd want to go and see and drive it, however it seems like a great deal. I'm thinking I could talk him down a little bit and then get a massive deal on it. Would this be worth the money, or does it seem to cheap, and should I just stay away? I appreciate any information possible! |

compared to this, that *is* a killer deal... two years newer, 60k less miles, 1500 less bucks? yes.

That BAT auction was for a manual. The car the OP found does not identify transmission.

Sort of off topic, but has anyone thought about, or does a registry for e91 Tourings already exist? Being sor rare, and they having such specialty interest it might be useful to have those of us who are interested and enthusiast to catalog our cars and the options, etc we have? Just a thought....

Ah, I see. Congrats! Yeah I'm on the fence with this one, still holding out for the holy grail I guess. I'd probably even pay $25K if I could find one at this point, this search is killing me.

Yeah not worth it to me. You could have an e90 M3 for that money. The wagon isn’t big enough or unique to justify that kind of premium. I have one. It’s ok. Sort handles like a Buick stock tho..

If anyone is interested in a 6MT N52, I'll sell them a nice E90 330i 6MT (original owner) + E91 328i RWD combo that *together* are substantially less than what some people are paying for one E91. Fun driving in the E90 330i 6MT ZSP in Electric Red and then use the silver E91 RWD auto car for hauling stuff, parking where you don't care, etc.

There are a few examples listed at prices well above $20K but how many actually sell for it? A proper choice at $12-17K - but you can always play the X car is a "better value". All you need is one buyer who thinks the price is fair

^Interesting viewpoints above from tlow98, CSBM5 and 86Zed.
E91's are quite boring stock. I'd argue they're fun to drive with some mods, namely better tires and suspension. For those in the market, there is nothing special about an E91, they're just an uncommon version of a sedan that was built in massive quantities so prepare for disappointment if you're expecting more. I was willing to and did pay close to $30k for a perfectly optioned car (RWD 6MT M Sport without Nav in my eyes). Only 49 RWD 6MT M Sports were produced in total, when you start limiting options, it's very hard to find a car. The asking prices out there reflect the market but I'm not a fan of the Bluewater car a few posts up, though. In an ideal world I would have bought a cheaper example and done an M3 front clip swap. I don't have the garage space or the time so a unicorn was the solution and I haven't regretted the decision for a minute. FWIW, my E36 is still sitting without an engine going on 3 years(!). Some inspiration for everyone pondering - |

While I admit the car isn't anything special to drive, it sure is a gorgeous looking sport wagon...especially in M Sport guise. Add a couple mods like coilovers and wheels and it really is a head turner. I love wagons, but there are very few I'd rather have...even if there are high performance options. Just me though.
