What Should my Summer Retrofit Project be?

Last summer I learned how to program keys for the E90 and this summer I need a new project. In no particular order of difficulty or cost:

1. Wireless charging
2. ACC Stop + Go
3. Soft close doors
4. Fake M badges
5. Front PDC
6. Blind spot monitoring
7. OEM Front (Surround if I can afford it) camera system (I already have a rear iCam from a X5)
8. M3 Cluster (With M logos removed)
9. Illuminated door sills
10. Night Vision

All projects will be using 100% OEM parts. I really want to retrofit an OEM HUD or front collision camera but both parts will not physically fit anywhere in the E90.

Side note would it be worth it for me to import a bunch of LCI warning triangle retrofits?

It looks like ACC stop + go and soft close doors are in the lead.

How about getting a job cutting neighborhood lawns and using the extra money to buy a 7-Series?

None of this is cost effective and a complete waste of money. This is solely for the technical challenge to get modern technology working in an old car.

Hell I could buy a base model F30 with the amount of money I dumped into the E90 by now.

Sounds like you really just want to buy a new car!

I voted for night vision by the way.

Is a HUD impossible? Maybe due to available room?
I would vote for whatever is cheaper/easier and go from there.

I still want to keep my E90 for at least another three years. All of these I want to be in for around $500.

The dash bar would get in the way of the HUD.

It can be done!

Funny enough BMW makes a HUD retrofit kit for the E90/Fxx cars. I don't remember the kit getting great reviews though since it costs over $300, is hard to find and doesn't give you anything more than the $20 eBay/Alibaba kits give you.

I saw that kit and it is not in my opinion a real hud. If I was going to retrofit a hud than I want a proper one built into the dash.

It looks like the top three are

1. Soft close doors
2. Blind spot monitoring
3. Tie between ACC S+G

Soft close doors are 100% doable and would be an easy retrofit. They have been done before on the E92 and E93 but not on the E90. A soft close set is currently $500 and I think that should wait for a $200-$300 set pops up.

BSM would be an over $1000 retrofit currently and the F30 mirrors may look bad on the E90. This will be a "pick and pull" retrofit in a few years. I didn't know how many parts actually went into it.

No one has done an ACC S+G retrofit on the E90 and only a handful have retrofitted the factory equipped version. Having the car drive itself in traffic seems useful and a great safety feature when playing with the NBT Evo. My current ACC will not follow close enough for driving in the north east. I don't mind spending $400-$500 to see if it works with the E90.

Forget e cars, modernize your ride by putting some M badges on it. And don't be coming back telling me that it don't need no steenking badges.

I just thought about electically adjustable steering wheel. Like on X5.
Probably not possible.

I think you are a stick shift but if not why don't you do the ZF 8 speed. I am asking for selfish reasons as I want one in my diesel. And you need to start a youtube channel.

I bought the E70 ACC sensor and LDM. If this retrofit fails in the E90 you can do the retrofit in your E70 as it is factory equipment. I tried making a YouTube video before but it ends up being a 30 minutes long mess if I start explaining everything. I did make a silent overview of the NBT Evo + ATM Retrofit:

If I do get this working I will make a time lapse video of me driving to the beach without pressing the gas or brake pedal.

Interesting. Did you get/need a ACC stalk (SZL?) also? Where are you finding all these parts? I have been trying to find parts to do a self leveling rear suspension retrofit for a few years now. I need the full rear air suspension including adaptive drive rear shocks. But I have lost interest in that now as I would rather do an 8 speed conversion. E70 LCI 35d got 8 speeds in Europe which should be good for 2+ mpg on the highway.

Thanks for the help with the Logic 7 retrofit. It sounds great in my daughters car.

I have a few contacts in the used car parts industry in the US and in Europe. I have links for another stalk, acc sensor and LDM if you want them. I didn't need the stalk since I already have the E90 ACC2 on my car.

Please make them 30 min long. I prefer long ones over the Charlie Chaplin type of videos.
It's so hard to keep following a DIY if it's playing at x 2 human speed.

Here is another useful mod, power lift trunk.
I have seen the ones with the added spring. But not a true power lift and might cause issues with the struts later on.
