I have an e90 lci. I had nonsport power seats, heated with lumbar. I got some sport seats, heated with lumbar. And they have the side bolsters, obviously.

Just installed them, hoping it'll be plug and play, but lumbar and side bolsters are not working. I can understand the side bolsters not working, maybe I need an extra cable to power those, but lumbar support should have worked. Any ideas? I bought them used so I want to make sure the seats are not f'ed up

Thanks!

I retrofitted sports seats in my car as well. The harness in your car does not have the pins for lumbar and side bolsters. So what you need to do is jump the power and ground wires to the lumber and side bolster power and ground to get them working.

Check this link.....

On post #51 there's a good visual diagram

So pin 7 or 9 (depending on your car year) and pin 13 has to be bridged with the power and ground wire on the seat side of the harness.

Thanks!

My car uses pin 7, which is a thin one. I think that's just for lumbar.

The new seat uses pin 9, which is wider then pin 7. I think it uses it for lumbar and side bolsters.

Do you know if the cable that's powering pin 7 on car's harness can power pin 9? Maybe I can just modify the harness. Because pin 9 is wider, it makes me feel like it won't work.

Worst case scenario I'll pull out pin 9 and wire it to the fusebox myself.

Yea so if you just run a piece of wire from the wire at pin 7 on the car side over to the wire at pin 9 on the seat side. That should work since you have lumbar already just an older configuration of the harness.

So it's safe to move pins around even though I had only lumbar connected to 7 and after moving it to 9 it'll need to support lumbar and side bolsters?

I'm mostly wondering because pin 7 and pin 9 don't look the same, Thin vs wide

Do you mean splice pin 7 and pin 9, and connect them? Outside the connectors right? What kind of cable should I use?

Reviving an old thread.

My situation:
Car: '09 E90 without sport seats, without heating, without lumbar support
Seats: '06 E90 sport seats without heating, of course with side bolsters, no lumbar (unfortunately)

Where do I get the power from to go to pin 9 on the '06 donor seat? I do not have a "steady plus" coming from my car to the seats, am I correct?

Cameron, the maker of this video, recommends connecting pin 7 to 9. But why connect those two connectors if the car is not giving power to either? Since there were no sport seats in the first place.

Anyone?

Can I tap the power from pin 4 wiring (seat module / heated seats) to pin 9 wiring using a a splice connector? That's what I'll be trying if there's no one with some experience with my particular situation.

Will be swapping out e91 lci base heated, power, and memory seats for e90 lci sport heated, power and memory seats. Will I need to do this wire splice?

Did you end up making this work? Eg tapping from Pin4 to pin 7/9 and Tapping Pin 13 to Pin 8 for ground?
