R Testing....(try at your own risk)

Ok, let me start off by saying that I know that I am pushing the boundaries, but I wanted to see what the limits were with this particular tune and 93 octane. Also, I wanted to test this out when it wasn't cold outside since that can change the boost and other factors drastically.

Please feel free to comment and let me know what you guys think....

All tests were done on a 2008 e90 335i, Chevron 93 octane (crap), and 82 degree ambient temperatures.....

My Performance Mods: BMS JB2X, and BMS Filter Kit...

The procedure: I would set the X to the setting that I wanted and then do multiple pulls to let it adapt. After that I would do a 1st through 4th gear pull to see where the boost was set to.

The Good:

JB2H = 13psi peak, 12psi held and no limps
JB2HH = 14psi peak, 13psi held and no limps

JB2R = 14psi peak, 13psi held and no limps
JB2HR = 15psi peak, 14psi held and no limps

The Bad:

JB2(1.5 - 1.75)HR = limp after 2 hard runs (3rd gear), with the limited data it looks like high 15psi peak, high 14psi held
JB2HHR = limp after 1 hard run (3rd gear), no good readings on boost

As I said above, please feel free to comment and let me know what you guys think. Thanks, and I hope this helps you guys when deciding where to set your JB2X at. Keep in mind all cars are different so your mileage may vary.....

Been running JB2H on 91 for almost 2 mos already no limp or codes on 80-90F.

I see, well I would guess that you are seeing around 12 psi in the hotter months....

I was using JB2X at 100% with no R (JB2HH), and this week I am going to be using JB2X at 50% with the R (JB2HR).

It is only a 1psi difference but I also noticed my oil temps were ~30 degree cooler as well. I didn't mention this earlier because I haven't done enough testing to verify this will continue.....

I like to test these things out on my daily driving since I drive 30 miles each way and usually do 2 or 3 WOT pulls as well as 30 min of stop and go traffic. I feel that this will give an overall picture of how this tune will react during most driving conditions....

So if i understand your post, you limped using JB2HR and JB2HHR. I don't think that's any big deal or surprising. 335is will limp if you push them hard enough. Even the stock set up can eventually limp.

no HR was fine, with the x at a little more then 1 was when he got his limps.

Drew, please re-read the thread. I limped using JB2(1.5-1.75)HR, and JB2HHR....

These were all done on 93 octane....

Well, if you remove the "(1.5-1.75)" from your post, it says JB2HR. I didn't realize there is any difference. I guess you could clarify your post by saying JB2H+R, if you mean you adjusted the H upwards so it is no longer simply the boost an H would provide without any adjustment..

I couldn't let it adapt first since it threw a limp almost right away....

That is what happens on 93 octane with the factory safeguards in place....

See the bolded sections.....

JB2HR = 14psi held

JB2(1.5 - 1.75)HR = ~14.75psi held
