Another turbocharged n52..
Long time lurker, first time posting on here.
After months of research, I’ve managed to boost my e92 328i. I’ve owned the car for almost two years, and it’s my first bmw. I originally purchased the vehicle with 90,000 Kms, completely stock. It’s pretty tough to find a 328i or 335i in Vancouver that’s a manual transmission, and not a totally sacked out unit. My previous vehicle was a 2013 Audi S6, with hybrid turbos/ supporting mods, so I’m not totally unfamiliar with aftermarket forced induction setups. Mods are as followed, - Holset He351cw turbo - Stock collectors into T3 flange turbofold - Bosch EV1 590cc injectors - Tial mvs external wastegate - Turbosmart Raceport BOV - MAF delete - Stage Fp software/ remote tune - 135i 5” aftermarket intercooler - Custom catch can The suspensions and brakes were changed almost right away, Coilovers, swaybars, and brembo GT6’s on the front. I’m currently just running a 3” down pipe until I decide what I’m going to do for an exhaust. (It’s loud AF, but does sound pretty tight) Believe it or not, the stock clutch is holding quite well with only the delay valve deleted. The wastegate spring pressure is at 9 pounds, makes full boost by 3000 rpms. Cost wise, this was still cheaper then the Ess blower kit, plus it has wayyyy more potential. If anyone needs tips or has any questions I’m glad to help. I have videos of the car on my insta. Kiddvegass |

Congrats man. This is impressive build. Did you manage to keep your AC? What did you do with the coolant expansion bottle?
Your IG profile is private, so your videos and other related posts are not accessible to people who don't have IG (like myself). Who build the manifold? |

Yes I managed to keep the AC. As long as it’s a top mount manifold, you can clear the AC pump no problem. Expansion tank was rerouted to the other side, by the power steering reservoir. I had a good friend who’s a fabricator build the manifold. N52 transmission still as well. |

This is pretty sick, I'm planning on doing this at some point next year when I finish my turbo jeep "SRT-4". Nice fab work on the manifold as well.

I'm inspired! I've got headers on now and the old factory ones are sitting in the garage. I need to break out the welder and try to get a manifold created, glad to see it's possible 😁

Noticed you're in Vancouver, do you have come out to any of the end of month meets or Thursday meets? Curious to learn a bit more. Also on the BC Bimmers facebook page.

I wondered about this myself, Especially after reading some of your comments in regards to your blower setup. I'm under the impression that with a Decent sized air to air, all should be good? I'm going to swap a N54 oil thermostat/ oil filter housing at some point this fall or winter, since temperatures are going down for the season. I would assume that if the oil isn't getting to hot, everything should be fine? I hope..

Well, I am in hot ass Texas... YMMV.
I am in the same boat with the oil cooler thang... If you can find the old BPC thread (idk if it's deleted or not) they were running the oem N54 intercooler : you probably could get by just fine in the initial stages with that if you're not going crazy with the boost juice.

The the N54 intercooler I installed was one of those eBay brand ones, it’s like a 5x5” Core. Didn’t fit the best, and I had to basically cut the shit out of the inlet outlet, but it works. I’ll be trying to monitor my AIT’s. Are you going to retro fit a stock N54 one ? |

Preops on a great (and creative) build. I have a million questions as I'm just putting together a bottom mount GTX3582R build. Are you running your build off a stock ecu? As was already asked, did you keep valvetronic? I'm tempted to do away with mine.
Any help you can give me with tuning would be greatly appreciated! |

I'm not a turbo specialist by any definition but that think looks HUGE. How long does it take to spool up? The N52 probably need 900kg /hour of air to make 300hp give or take , maybe 6 lbs boost. Just guessing and the turbo is rated for far more air and pressure. 1000KG/ @ 7 psi being the bottom of the chart.
The two tiny turbos on my N54 are holding 13 PSI at 1050 KG/\hour. And I wish they spoiled up quicker. |
