Newbie e93 97 - stock head unit to android auto dash advice
Hi,
I apologise as I'm sure this has come up before, but maybe not so recently. I have bought my first BMW E93 97 model with a basic audio system and no screen or satnav, or reverse camera, all of which my Jag had. I'd like to do a few things like upgrade the speakers, and if I'm able to, install a Rockford 4ch amp I already own. But I'd like to have Android auto and the idrive knob if possible, and I don't want to cut the dash unless it'll look like it's supposed to be there and not cheap. I have seen you can buy the dash with the double scoop, is it that simple to buy the dash with the double scoop and a corresponding android auto screen, or is it better to cut into the existing dash to install a 12" touch screen... Any recommendations on the screen? Reverse camera etc Any post you can point me to where someone has done a double scoop install, and one with the screen cut into the dash? I'd really appreciate all the advice. Fyi, IV started to read up on coding the car, as I'd like to have the roof and mirrors close when locking the car, I work in IT and am technical and good with DIY etc. |

Many thanks, I meant the car is 2007 e93 - typo
I am in the UK sooo 🤷 maybe that's why I like the look of something that's not far off OEM.. But it would be nice to have a large android auto... IV also seen you can replace the cluster for a digital which looks interesting... Thanks for the links I'll start looking at those 🙏 |
