HELP! Car won't start
After my successful glow plug change the other day my car won't start
Symptoms are glow plug light comes on, car starts, stalls after 3 seconds, then won't start again (engine turns and turns) for about 3 minutes, after which it just does the same - starts and runs for 3 seconds |

1- Check all the wirings of injectors to starts with. 2- Check the condition of the battery.

The only thing I did with the injector wiring was to tie wrap one wire up as the fabric wrap had come undone, but that was on cylinder 4 not 5
The glow plug fault I initially got was on cyl 5 though... The car does start, so I'm not sure if it could be battery related? |

What gets me is that it ran fine after I changed the glow plugs, left it from Sunday night to tonight and it won't start - not touched it inbetween
Also, 3 degress here and the glow plug light was on when cranking, which seems odd as it doesn't usually come on until it's below freezing |

which one is the case? Nope, it should go into limp mode and bong! But car should still run AFAIK.

Well, I feel like a bit of an arse, today I took the covers off the engine, and found I'd trapped the injector wires for cylinder 5 between the inlet manifold and the head.
I've freed them off and completed a temporary repair to get me mobile again, but it's going to need a new injector wiring loom - basically all the money saved on doing this myself - poof! gone! |

Sorry to hear that. Why can't you repair the loom yourself?

I know what you mean about wanting it right. But if you do the job properly it'll end up being the stronger part of the loom. Wrap it up and you'll forget about it after a few days. It ain't worth spending £££ on getting a replacement loom. Wire is wire, if it's connected, it works |
