CIC pro map update. Anybody local to me able to do it?

Just wondering if anybody localish to Doncaster able to update my retrofitted cic which has 2014 maps to 2019 maps? I know people say it’s easy and free to do but after lots of searching I can’t work out how. My low IT skills are to blame sadly.

Hi, I’m back again! Sorry.
Yesterday I decided to try and sort this out and I think I’m close! I’ve used a usb stick to get the 1b hex out of my car then generate an fsc code so hopefully that’s ok. I’ve downloaded the 2018-1 west Europe maps (took forever because my wifi is crap). I then bought a new 32gb stick which should be plenty for the 18gb maps right? Wrong! I just get a warning saying the file is too large! WTF. The stick is formatted fat32 which is required apparently. Out of interest I formatted the stick to NTFS which allowed the file to be transferred but this won’t work in the car! Help please?

The 18GB file you downloaded is zipped i.e. compressed. When you unzip it, it’ll be larger, maybe 28GB? IIRC.

A 32GB stick will format to around 28GB. When i did the GF’s car, a 32GB stick was about 100MB too small, so had to use a 64GB stick.

Oh! Thanks. So it’s 18gb when zipped!?!?! That sounds like the reason it took forever to download then 😂

18GB will take a while to download whether it is zipped or not.
