I don't understand why all the 335d have this issue and BMW doesn't do anything to solve it

Why is that, or are you just being paranoid again and thinking everyone is out to screw with you?

i agree with carlos, i think that they've only cleaned mine too; i mean the oil leak doesn't come from a puncture in the hose i suppose, i think that it's just because the hose slided from the original position...

They said that they replaced one seal on the hose first (not the actual hose) but under testing it still leaked. They then decided to replace the entire hose.

I suspect they may only have replaced the seal on yours instead of the hose ??????

Yes, that's what they did. As Carl was saying, the "new" hose was obviously cleaned, not replaced.

had mine done now looks like the new design and there is a noticable difference in performance much sharper and about 1mpg more on average. just didnt notice the performance dropping off over a time i suppose. anyone with one of these cars really should check the hose for a leak.

In BMW's Puma measure is to replace only the upper seal at the turbo hose (not replace the hole pipe)-> so let the dealer know you want new turbo hose to fix this problem cause only the seal replace will not fix the problem!!! (11 61 7 812 274)!!!.. and why these hoses have so much oil, is the engine breather what leaks little (part's have got new part number's and new part's will not fit to the old parts...so all has to be replaced 11 12 7 809 513+11 12 7 809 512<- new part's fix the problem).

335d oil leak at boost hose

I just happened to spot oil covering my boost hose last week whilst checking for salt residue. Just as well that hose was not made black otherwise we would never have seen it! Dick Lovett BMW Swindon have the car as I write this. My question to their Service Manager will be why they did not spot this at the last service? They spotted the fact that the rear disks need replacement so why not the charge hose seal? Well done on this thread all - it has been a real help. They'll freak out when I walk in with the parts diagram!

I have just had this done on mine today.

As it is rather wet outside I have not yet looked to see if they have replaced the hose or just the seal.

BUT

I had not realised how much power my car had lost because of this.

Seriously it is like having a whole new car again

They will do the work under warranty, they will not touch the ECU mate.

Not convinced it's psychological.

Yes I have been pottering around in a 520D all day but my car certainly feels like is has more pull than this time yesterday.

Its in ya head.

If the car lost 5-10HP you wouldnt notice it, it certainly would have lost anything like 25-30+HP.

just checked mine out, the red hose looks clean, but the clips have a little oil, but the drip tray at the bottom is covered in splashes. should the drip tray be clean?

MPTREE - might see you at DL in Bristol, I've got my car booked in there on tuesday for something else

Make sure they change the Pipe and clip for the new style, not take off and clean and refit.

They did this with mine, a year later and its happened again.

Well after a few days, my average fuel economy has certainly changed.

Previously I was averaging 35.7mpg pretty consistantly.

Now this figure is 39.1mpg (both numbers based on the OBC).

So that's over a 10% difference.

So assuming that this equates the same to power then 10% of 281bhp = 28.1 which would answer your statement above don't you think.

just been told they found a leak and about to replace a "seal" the SA didn't know exactly which one, he may know a little more I go to pick it up.

But thank you guys, I would never have looked there and noticed it if it hadn't of been for this thread.

I'll let you know if I notice a difference.
