Yes I'll be having a play once I can get my head round it & everything has settled in. I've been upgrading my in-car sound equipment for years and in over 40 years of driving I’ve never kept a sound system as OE but this is the most expensive and comprehensive upgrade I've ever had. It’s also a little daunting with the DSP as all I’ve had before is the standard tones & balance controls and I know nothing about crossovers / filters / LP settings etc, at least the Gladen settings file gives me somewhere to start & go back to if/when I muck things up

That's true Ian, hope you enjoy it, i did!

I strongly recommend buying some, or all 5 cds, of the Autosound 2000 set. They explain everything from staging to gain over lap. They will pretty much cater for all your needs. It teaches you what you should look out for, which for me was useful.

I wouldn't advise downloading anything that's supposed to be reference quality. If you want to purchase simply visit www.davidnavone.com. Give him a bell and he will send some out. He is actually the one who made these and IIRC is a physics professor. Probably the most knowledgeable person i know regarding car audio!

Autosound 2000 is set of test tracks designed to get most out of ur system Ian, the set contains 5 CD's, each CD costs $18 apiece, this is just to get people started, just have a listen and decide which one of the 5 CD's you'd want to buy

most people claim to be true audiophiles, on the systems we have, you'd not be able to tell the difference between the 320kbps mp3 with CD, good luck...

CDs are well and good but equipment is too. Your not going to turn pro with just CDs

RTA, Crossover calibrator, Distortion detectors aswell as O-scope are all in my arsenal of tools to setup. CD, sure. But just basic tones and pink noise (for RTA tune) will suffice.

Yep, Mr Singh is correct in saying equipment plays a huge part as well. So does experience.

No one can obviously turn pro with 5 cds and some equipment, there's so much more behind it, which is why professionals are mostly academics, like Mr Singh. But for me, a non-pro, it does get me to a point which satisfies my needs, and due to be it being a tutorial cd (with all the tones you could possibly need), it did help me improve my knowledge, which is the point of them.

If learning about audio is something you enjoy then get them. If not just get someone else to set it up and forget about it

Just seen the vid. What equipment did you use and have you made one whilst playing pink noise? Would be interested in seeing that if you have.

Possibly Mo.
I've tried few underseats and TBH, earthquakes are so good (if installed and xoverd appropriately) that I got rid of other mid bass drivers.

I've also heard Jehnerts over the weekend. They are nice, clean but I'd rather keep SWS-8s as my mid bass drivers at the time being.

This is iphone application, which can record the sound 70% to its true sound (mic of iphone is downside).

I have not tried pink noise, but would do at some stage. I'll have to rip a cd with that and try as iphone will be recording.

I'd keep the Earthquakes then. If its working for you then that's all that matters.

Stage 4: Does it involve making any custom pods?

At the moment Earthquakes are staying in my car till I find a better driver than this.
If you read all the reviews in 2008-2010, earthquakes are regarded very high including mid bass.

Hint for stage 4 = 4 figures price tag just for this upgrade.
