New breaks groaning/grinding noise
I just got my front brake pads and rotors done around a month ago on my 2007 328i sedan and whenever I stop at a slow speed I hear a groaning/grinding noise. Took it back to the shop where I got it done and the mechanic said they just need to be worn in. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks! |

Have you tried to bed the new brakes? Do a good search about proper bedding procedures and give it a shot.

You should be fine as long as its not a LOUUUUUD noise.
Is it oem pads? oem ones will take less time to bed in, the noise should lessen after 1-2 weeks if you don't bed them in. Bedding them in would decrease that time frame by a bit. I have got aftermarket Racing Brake ET800 that took around 2 weeks even after a quite thorough bed in process. Good Luck!

I had this problem with my red stuff pads. The company sent me shims and an instruction pamphlet with proper bedding procedures. It was something along the lines of
Lightly use the pads for 1000km, follow with bedding procedure 40km/hr-0 60km/hr-0 80km/hr-20km/hr Repeat process 4 times with 30minutes inbetween sessions. The pads were awesome and quiet after that. |
