For those of you that have been following this for a while, I bought the Rocketfish receiver while I had an S7 Edge and the quality was really good. I'm a believer in AptX Bluetooth tech now. I've since switched back to IPhone, the receiver is supposed to be capable of standard Bluetooth aswell. But the sound quality was awful, not just sub par, but it sounded like i'd blown my subs and the highs were crackling etc... Any suggestions?

I recently got the audio engine b1. I am a iOS user and have the signal from my phone go to the audio engine, then out via optical to my match 82dsp and the sound quality is great. Much better than the stock audio jack.
So to RSV's point and beyond. I think the audio engine does a stellar job at the apple codex as well as aptx, seeing as I'm not using the built in DAC of the audio engine and the sound is still very good. |

To all the Rocket Fish users! I understand it connects through NFC; does this mean you have to put your phone over the glove box or simply being in the car with phone in pocket does the trick?

It doesn't connect with NFC, connects with Bluetooth. I think someone mentioned that you can use NFC to pair it with your phone but this isn't necessary as it pairs automatically like any bluetooth device.

thought I would post an update...
Before I went all in with the Audioengine B1, I decided to give the AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver a try. I paired it with a USB to DC cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Surprisingly, this is working out really well! The unit turns on very quickly and by the time I'm selecting what I want to listen to, my phone is paired and life is good. Now, I +90% of what I listen to is spoken dialogue (lots of audiobooks and podcasts) and the AmazonBasics unit works fine for this. I wouldn't be surprised if the audio quality is lacking as compared to the B1, but for the cost and my use case, the Amazon unit is great. |

https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Rec.../dp/B0168GBMCY. I tucked the cables in the center tunnel and had the music control section come out next to the shifter. Easy to press and doesn't get in the way. You have to get the "puck" type bluetooth receivers for this because they allow for music control also. What I did in my 5 series, was this: http://5series.net/forums/bluetooth-...eaming-139872/ Hardwired and completely out of sight. I use a bluetooth remote to control the music easily. Both solutions work really well and music quality is great. No visible cables either. |

Should a normal cig lighter USB charger supply enough power for one of these (5v)? I just bought a Rocketfish and it does not power on using that charger, I think its only 2.4v. I cant find a 5v one. I plug it in AC and of course it works fine. Is the Audioengine the same?

That's odd though. Usually any USB powered devices accept 5v |

Thanks! I was using a charger I got from a conference somewhere so I guess it was not as strong output as it should have been. |

Has anyone used a JL audio MBT-RX hardwired to a power source and either 3.5mm or USB input? I have one in my '97 328i with a Clarion headunit and aux input. Sound quality was fantastic.

Also hardwiring that marine one you'll also need RCA to aux and it's going to be whole bunch of cables. |

I really wanted to have steering wheel controls, so I figured I would give the tune2air WMA3000B a shot. I found that it takes about a minute for my car to recognize the dongle as an iPod (BMW Professional stereo with Logic 7) my Android phone would find it, but I get no track information in the stereo, steering wheel controls do not work, average at best sound quality, and frequent disconnects. Maybe if I had an iPhone, this would be a better product, but I'm disappointed.
Based on this thread, I ordered a Kinivo BTC450 which should be here tomorrow. I will report back. |

Anyway steering wheel function is also my only issue but the device I'm using the sound quality is phenomenal. Now I have the kenu airframe phone mount so I just navigate through the phone controls. |

So I installed the Kinivo BTC450 and am reporting back.... The Kinivo vs the tune2air is like comparing a really nice scotch to a Keystone Light. My phone connects almost instantly, the included wired remote works great, and the sound quality is phenomenal.
